I just realized I like daft punk better without the shitty anime videos.

Just throwing this out there because I'm in a bad mood:

I actually kind of hate how Daft Punk is so popular. Most electronica goes along with this. It's the same problem that pop-punk and rap have. They do one good thing and then people hold them up to be the kings of the genre. And then they start repeating the same motifs over and over, and everyone keeps reacting the same way.

In fact, I think Daft Punk is analogous to rap. Each song has one cool melodic hook (if there is one to be found), and then it just repeats. Over. And over. And over. And everyone creams their goddamn pants over it like it's the best thing to happen to electronic music since the synthesizer keyboard.

It's not good. It lacks complexity, it's repetitive, it lacks meaning, it lacks emotion. It's everything that good music shouldn't be.

Come to think of it, almost all bands and genres have this problem. I guess I'm just mad that people can decry rap as being repetitive emotionless shit, and then be perfectly content to listen to their favorite artists or bands without bothering to question if it's really any better than listening to the songs they hate.

Never got into Daft Punk. The first song I heard by them had an annoying as hell sound loop over and over again, and was in someone's shitty demo reel. So thats probably why.
