Hardware Bottlenecks

I have a feeling that my computer could be performing better.

When the radeon 9700 pro first came out, ATI bragged that they were getting 50 fps on Animusic's Pipedream. Yet, my computer gets a mere 30 fps, using FRAPS.

What's wrong with my computer?

Specs:
MSI 845G Motherboard
Pentium 4 Processor at 2.53GHz (not OC'ed)
512MB of RAM
1x 60GB HDD, 1x 40GB HDD
Gigabyte Radeon 9700 pro

Good question...
800fsb intel board/cpus came after the 9700 pro so they couldnt have use those.
How does the 845 chipset perform? Is it a dual channel memory board?
What speed is your 512mb of RAM?
Otherwise...no clue

Well, overall it seems like a nice, well rounded system. Maybe a reformat will do the trick. What drivers are you using?

BTW, this can be a side effect from too much pr0n

I just tested mine to see the comparison. I get up to 59-60, but it dips down as low as 36. Looks like we're in the same boat?
Also, I too was using fraps. Tested with all settings on high quality, and 8x AF as well as high performance NO AF. Same exact results.

I'm getting a constant 30fps using FRAPS on my:

9700 non-pro
2700+
1 gig 2700 RAM

I'm running other stuff in the background though, and havn't restarted in a day or two. Seems like this is okay to me...
