right now i have a 2.26 ghz pentium 4, 512 ram, and a bad NVIDIA geforce 4 mx 440 128 mb. i want to upgrade my video card, but i found out my power supply is only 160W! i cant upgrade my power supply because it was custom built for my computer, so i would have to find another power supply with the same exact dimensions as mine, which wont happen. i was wondering if i bought a new case, can i get a new power supply installed in that, or am i stuck with my computer and i cannot play halflife2 the way it is meant to play. if anyone can help me i would really appreciate it. thanks in advance

If you get a new case, then yes, you should be able to get a new power supply... Dunno why you wouldn't be able too. Many cases are sold with power supplies anyway... Just look around for what would be best... And then of coarse you'll have to transfer all of your computer parts from your other computer into the new case too...

If its a custom made computer from a company like dell then they also use custom sized motherboards making it unlikely that it will fit in a different ATX case.

In that case you're also going to have to do some research to see if you can still use all of your previous parts... Socket and processor types and such...

well i found a case, and it works with my motherboard, the dimensions are fine, and it has a 400 W power supply, so i should be fine, right?

From a friends experiance its not the size of the mobo but the location of the screw holes that do not line up. I suppose you could drill new holes in the case if you required.

And yes 400 watts is fine as long as its a respectable brand and not an unbranded 400 watts or q-tec.
