I just discovered this game today, and I'm quite surprised it took me this long to do so. Aside from some lackluster character animations (mostly stiff NPCs), this looks like it could be the adventure RPG I've been waiting for. Hellgate: London is nothing like I hoped it would be. Here are some of the more notable things that I picked from a couple of the interviews:
- Dialogue is much like that of KOTOR, in that you will be able to choose from multiple responses, many of which will have consequences that will arise much later into the game.
- There are at least three different storylines that you can follow based the choices you make both in dialogue and NPC interactions.
- Each storyline has been claimed to offer around 40-50 hours of gameplay.
- Movement can be switched between point/click and WASD
- The combat system features 3 stances, one for quick but weaker jabs, one for stronger and slower blows, and the final for dealing with multiple enemies at once. There is also a combo system in place to make combat more immersive.
Here are some of the more notable videos:
GC 2007 Gameplay
Making of Part 1
Part 2
There is also a good selection of videos on IGN.
