If you bought Everquest II, what can you tell me about it?

Im seriously considering buying it when my WoW subscription ends in 3 months. If I don't like it better than WoW then I will re-subscribe to WoW when my EQ II account expires.

Is EQII any good?

What is there to gripe about?

Do they still have the Monk ninja mofo?

Any new/newer classes since they introduced alchemy?

I heard several people here saying EQII sucks, but I wonder, "Have they even played the game?"

They still have the monk, they do kung fu and stuff, almost all the classes are new except the basic ones (Necro, Paladin, Warrior) EQII is fun only if you can stay commited, it has some levels that seem to go on forever and can make you feel like you wanna quit, but it always gets better as you level up. If people do complain about EQII it's prolly that it has no PvP

Im sorry??

All the classes are new except Warrior, Paladin, and Necromancer?

I don't believe that could be true!

What about the Bard, Rogue, Ranger, Shaman, Cleric, Alchemist, Enchanter, Mage, and Wizard(might be forgeting some)? You trying to tell me they did away with all these?
EDIT: /me reads post again. =/

Would you mind doing me a huge favor and telling me what classes they have, any info would be great. It doesn't say on the box obviously.

im currently playing the trial version..its free to download on fileplanet.. lets u play till lvl 6.
Their are 4 base classes, these in turn have subclasses.

And i like it...its on my to buy list...1-2 weeks and i can lvl my trial char further...

EQ II = The real deal.

WOW a free trial download?! Great thanks for the link!

Heres a shortcut to the screenshots gallery for anyone who wants to look:

See now this game is the real deal.

The game play is nearly identical to WoW so you should have no problem picking it up.

*Your results may vary. Might want to go ahead and order some PC upgrades.

EDIT: I'm going to order my CPU, mobo, tower, PSU and play WoW untill the subscription expires, then Im going to kiss my life goodbye and buy that game man.

If it's the last game I ever play I'll die satisfied.

Don't pay Fileplanet, get it straight from sony
http://www.trialoftheisle.com/download.vm
(direct: http://download.station.sony.com/patch/download/eq2/EQ2_TOI.zip )

after playing this trial, which you do not need to enter any credit card information for btw. Im gonna pick it up over WoW.

WoW is brilliant, but becomes brilliantly boring as you realize its a MMODC (dungeon crawler, it's more akin to D2 than UO)
with no risk there is no reward, and the tradeskills are so easy they offer no challenge, or depth.

EQ2 is like Morrowind online, it's amazing.

I play eq2. I currently have a 28 monk on Guk. I don't know how much of the Trial of the Isle let's you progress through the game. If it only lets you do the Isle of Refuge, then it's not a good indicator of what the whole game is like. IMO, the first 15 levels are fun. After lvl 15, the exp starts to slow down, but it'sstill fun. At lvl 20, you can do the armor quests and those give pretty good xp. Even though there is a lot of solo content, it's best to find a group if you want to xp. The level grind isn't that bad. Here's my character.

I've got 2 screenies if you wanna see how well my comp can run EQ2. It's on Medium detail. My comp specs: 3.0 Ghz P4 | 1 Gig DDR | Asus P4C800-E Deluxe | Radeon 9700 Pro | 1 x 80 Gig Western Digital | 1 x 250 Gig Western Digital

I can run it on High detail, but I wanted to keep my framerates as smooth as possible without losing too much visual quality.

not a good indicator... in a good way? or a bad way?

I really enjoyed the trial of the isle, (refuge isle only, you can play until level 6... well actually you can play for seven days for free, no credit card info needed either... but you cannot leave the island, and you cannot level beyond 6 on the isle)

so much so that I was thinking of switching from WoW (which I was an avid fan of) to EQ2 (which I thought was utter rubbish until I tried the demo)

things that make me want EQ2:
gfx are top notch, I love it.
tradeskills have MUCH more depth than WoW's sad offering.
The spell graphics are amazing... I have no idea why WoW slacks in spell effects... in EQ2 spells are really really really cool (all the ones I have seen anyway)

hell I was blown away when I opened a chest and it was trapped, ice shards came raining down on me... it looked awesome in ways that WoW cannot match.

community, I have seen more community interaction and cool people in the last couple days playing EQ2 than the entire time I have played WoW.

WoW is better, I played EQ2 since release and it only took me 1 day of playing to want WoW, I've canceled my EQ2 account by now, but I don't have the money for WoW...oh well.

it's funny, I feel the exact same about everquest2
I played WoW since closed beta, but it took me one day of the trial of the isle to like Eq2 better, Im on the verge of canceling my WoW account.

I guess it comes down to taste, or perhaps we both have "the grass is always greener..." syndrome.
plus EQ2 looks damn sweet (especially if you have the hardware to run it at high-ish settings ;D )

Well, you can't really get a good grasp of the game just from the newb isle. It's fun, but the full thing is just an awesome experience.

edit: so... yeah... not a good indicator.......in a good way...or a bad way... i'm confused :monkee:

...It has no PvP and not even an option for PvP. Don't get me wrong, i love good single player RPG's but this is the internet here and every net game should have PvP.

The thing about Wow, you see, is that it looks so full of life!

EQII just looks alot like a bland fantasy MMORPG.

Not that I can judge. I havn't played EQII yet.

I'm pretty sure that it will eventually have pvp. In Qeynos harbor, there is an arena, but when you mouse over the sign outside the arena door, it gives the message- "Temporarily Closed for Renovations"

I don't know when they'll add pvp to the game. Perhaps once the Frogloks are finally unlocked and some more of the lore has been fleshed out, then maybe they'll add pvp. It seems to me that the lore is leading up to a war between Qeynos and Freeport....
