Has anyone ever mentioned how incredible FireFox is?

I was just browsing through some very loooong technical facts about BPL (Broadband over Powerlines) via Wiki link and I must say, when I just now used FireFox's Edit > Find in This Page feature for the first time, I came. A built in, current page, real-time, search engine? Awesome! I know IE has this feature too, but it uses the all-so-inconvenient "window" method.:P Another reason to add to my, "Why I like FireFox So Much" list. :D To all FireFox lovers, Why do you like FireFox so much? Is it because of tabbed browsing? The fact that all java applet controls are at your fingertips and that it doesn't require Active-X? What's your reason? :cheese:

  • Tabbed browsing (of course).
  • Yes, the non-window find function is great.
  • Add-ons, especially Adblock, Adblock updater, Flashblock, FlashGot, Google Toolbar, Imageshack Toolbar.
  • Customizability in the form of skins and button arrangement, eg this is my layout which is quite different from the default but suits me better.

Edit: Arrgh at not able to embed images in this sub-forum (which is really for Hardware and Software problems)

i got both for some reason, but i dont see the difference, maybe thats cause i mainly use explorer

This has always been one of FireFox's major advantages over IE, but even vanilla FireFox is better than IE imo. It just feels faster for some reason.

Adblock plus is incredible. One little plugin = virtually no adds. If you do happen to find one (which is pretty rare), you can just add it to the block list.

I'm beginning to loathe Firefox's appetite for RAM - not the most optimised product particularly when compared to Opera

3.0 has pretty much fixed the memory leak issue.

And for what reason do you need your ram free for? Just curious. Also you do realise you can reduce the amount of pages (tabs) FF keeps in memory right?

Casual Browsing = FF
Development = IE

You'll understand if you've ever done any serious contract/employed work for a government agency.

Whenever I use firefox I find it has problems reading some pages. I'll stick with IE

*waits for flame*

There is the occasional page that firefox doesn't load properly and for them I'll load up IE but it's a minor enough thing so it doesn't prevent me from using firefox. Besides from what I hear it will be a thing of the past when Firefox 3 comes out.
