Like many of you I'm sure, I've been waiting since launch to find a Wii. I haven't really been in much of a rush to find one, but lately it's just started to get ridiculous. I remember when they first launched shipments usually came in every other Sunday, and retailers were pretty good about making announcements about their restocks. But lately, I haven't heard anything, I haven't even met anyone that has gotten one in the last couple of months ;(

I'm not sure I quite buy the "intentional shortage" accusations, but really, why so few? Has anyone gotten one lately, or even heard of any coming in anywhere?

I haven't myself but I've seen stock here ...

but I'm not in the US :p

Hong Kong

I've been looking for about two months now. There's still nothing available.

I realistically think it'll be the summer before it'll be possible to walk into a shop and pick one up.

I had mine on launch day WOWOWOW! Just to rub it in :p

I must admit though, the games are getting a bit meh at the moment. If you get one you will have plenty to play. But right now I have sort of run out. I have gone back to my 360. I'm playing Viva Pinata and Advanced Warfighter 2. Dam, those games rock.

No, but I want one. I hear Target updates their website when they will be getting Wii shipments but you have to get there bright and early to get one of the tickets they give out for them becuase the systems sell out in mere minutes, even if they get like 40 units (which is apparently quite rare).

I got mine on launch. I have:
Zelda (Completed)
Red Steel (Completed)
Call of Duty 3 (Completed)
Excite Truck (Completed)
Wario Ware (Completed)
Wii Sports
Wii Play
Mario Kart 64
Gunstar Heroes

I'll be getting SSX Blur tomorrow and Eledees next month. Definitely got Super Paper Mario and Medal of Honour: Vanguard on the horizon and potentially Heatseeker. A friend of mine is probably going to get Marvel Alliance soon for an ongoing multiplayer project and he also wants Dragonball Z and Mortal Kombat which both look fun. Not going to be running out soon.

And there's no need to mention the slowly accelerating amount of big games on the horizon.

I think people blow software shortages way out of proportion. Especially as it only came out 3/4 months ago.

A friend of mine got one fairly recently and I got a chance to spend some time with it. I gotta say ... it's pretty overrated. Especially Wii sports ... it's not bad but it's not great. Feels like playing one of those game specific packs you buy and plug directly into the TV, like a Paintball simulator or something.

Zelda is a good game ... but not because of the controller. I dunno, I haven't played ANYTHING that justifies the Wii's existence yet. Mario Galaxies might change my mind.

I played Wii Sports at a mates a few times and, whilst very fun, I'm struggling to see why the controller and it's motion-sense capability has gotten so much hype. From what I could tell, it's as if everything has a set animation to how you move, like the games already have your move plotted out when it sees (or... detects, even?) that you turn the controller slightly left or abit upwards.

In simplistic terms to that ramble, it sort've feels like I have a large stick and I'm operating a standard gamepad controller across the room with it. I don't know.

My Mom said she was getting a Wii a few weeks ago (about 2 weeks) and anyone hasn't got a shipment in since then, but my cousins boyfriend works at an EB games, and he said they are getting some in 2 days, and he'll buy one for us, and we'll repay him. Kind of alot to go through for a console?

I was offered to get a Wii from a friend at Toys R Us but there really isn't too many kick ass games to justify it.

Maybe later.

Some games offer 1 to 1 movement, like first person shooters, aiming in Zelda, Wii Sports Baseball + Boxing. Others have animations prepared but the controller motion will normally do roughly what you do.
I don't see the analogy about it being a giant analogue stick to be honest. It sounds like you only played Tennis and maybe Golf.

Yep, just play baseball to see the game detect your movement perfectly. Obviously there's an animation when you swing, but holding the bat is 1-to-1 movement.

Actually I've found it most common in Bowling. Boxing's alright, so yeah that's probably it then, although Baseball felt just the same as Bowling for sort've souless gameplay.

Fun as hell, mind.

Brother bought one recently. Don't like it much all nintendos are the same, just repackaged. Achy arms too.

Apparently Madden 2007 and The Godfather: Blackhand Edition make very good use of the motion controls. It's not one-to-one, but according to reviews I've read, the movements you make correspond very nicely to the on-screen action.

I forgot I had Madden 07 too to add to my list above. This game is great. :E Honestly either in SP or MP you can have a wail of a time and a pretty good workout if you really get into it.

It also nearly caused a fight between me and a couple of mates when we realised, after a few beers, how close the stiff arm action was to real stiff arming, meaning we could do it to each other.
