So, after job orientation at work today I gave another new employee a ride home...dunno how old she was, older than me. It was a short drive just a few streets down.

I got home and in talking about my job I told my mom. She freaked out and claims that I should never ride alone with a woman because the woman might accuse me of assaulting her in the vehicle.
Just wanted to know if anyone has:
A. had this happen to them
B. had this happen to anyone they know
C. ever heard of this happening to anyone at all

Thanks.

Never heard that happen to anyone innocent... You're innocent until proven guilty.

Let me guess: you're from the States? Litigation is ruining your society.

"She could tell your boss and get you fired"
Not that we've known each other besides the few hours in orientation, and she wouldn't have any motivation to do it considering we work in completely different departments.
And yeah I'm from the states

We had a completely false sexual harrassment ordeal a few years ago at work. Despite him being proven innocent.. It still ruins your reputation and/or career.

An 18 year old girl had claimed that a district manager (oversees several stores) had sexually harassed her. She complained to the union first, and they then directed it to the local law enforcement. After lots of investigation and talks and such (which I was not present for.. due to me not being involved) it was discovered that he was innocent, and she admitted to making the entire thing up.

She got fired, and he got assigned to the Worcester district of stores rather than the Boston district, in order to avoid any conflicts.. Which is somewhat of a demotion, and it certainly ruined his reputation a bit, despite him being innocent.

Whether innocent or not.. It leaves a mark on your record, which is really unfortunate.

Hope this helps.. Even though it's not really the same situation.

I like to take young girls for a ride in my car.

Yea I guess I was looking at it in a legal sort of way. Then again, you could sue her for sueing you under false pretenses :D

Just follow my motto: When she starts screaming, hit her with the hammer

But ignore his other motto: "Dipping your penis in pools of infected blood is fun!"

Anyway, that sort of thing DOES happen, but it's really pretty rare, as far as I can tell.

It's not likely, but your mom is completely right

I'd rather risk it and help someone out though than live a life assuming the worst of everyone

Its an easy situation, so long as you act fast. You just need to claim she harrased you before she can say otherwise.

Might as well just walk. Then you're free to sexually harass/assault anyone on the way home and not risk your job over it!

Innocent until proven guilty ^_^

Never spend more than a second alone with someone of the opposite (or in fact, the same) sex. They may accuse you of sexual harassment. Or worse.. maybe arson or murder.
In fact, always keep at least two witnesses with you at all times.... but don't get caught alone with the witnesses, or they might claim you sexually harassed them. Or worse... maybe lit them on fire, or tried to kill one of them.

In fact, always keep at least 5 witnesses and counter-witnesses. Don't ever leave busy streets and make sure that a judge and police officer are there watching you the whole time...

Just don't get caught alone with a busy street full of people, a judge and a police officer... or they might claim you sexually assaulted them. Or worse...

I know plenty of people who have been in situations where a girl has lied out of her ass about not only sexual harassment, but also rape. Even after being proven innocent, it still leaves a big black mark on your reputation and you always walk away with some scars.

I wouldn't do what you did not because I'm distrusting, but because in the rare event that you do get some crazy bitch, it's not a risk worth dancing around. I'd stay on the safe side of things until I'd get to know somebody better.

If you make her ride in the trunk, you have a perfect alibi.

Absinthe, your sig makes me look like some sort of psycho. Which I am, but still :p

meh if you're going to get accused, might as well cop a feel next time ;)

I was arrested, and there was a lady cop. She read me my rights, said "Anything you say can and will be held against you."

So I said "tits".

I give girls rides all the time. I've never worried about something like that. I even made out with the girl next to me on the plane when I came home from Kentucky.

:S maybe i should worry about this stuff?

That's why you got ****ing kicked out of your mission, uriel

I heard this one some time back - a woman accused her boss of making advances, and the only reason he escaped punishment was that he could prove he was out of town at the time. The laws here are too biased in favour of the "victim". :frown:

Haha, that was after I was released as a missionary. The girl was a stranger, but she wasn't a slut or anything. She was actually really nice and if she didnt live so far away id date her regularly. I actually kinda miss her ;(

No, I understand. No one could resist such a stud for too long, especially sitting next to him on a plane :( It is a curse we both share, my friend.

We got in trouble on the plane. The stewartess asked if we'd tone it down some. Hahaha, it was so funny.

Only in America... :p
Don't do it! Your respectable status will be lost under the barrage of people shouting at you. Very weird that his mum jumped to that conclusion though, worrying void in how society gels together it sounds like. Must admit Que-Ever, that joke was very good :D

mmmm well miccy depends on where this girl is from around here... i think i remember you tellin me you lived near oc on the rock. If it's a valley girl then... mmm ur prolly straight. But watch these FM and MPH women their tricky sometimes.
Nah this is out in Camillus. I'm working at the Staples there.
She lives on one of the side streets a few minutes down the road from Staples. (turn left out of Home Depot, not sure if you know exactly where I'm talking about)

This is the most ridiculous thing i've heard in a good while. The US seems to become increasingly litigious by the day - it's becoming a nonsense. The sad thing is, the UK is slowly being dragged down the same path of paranoia and suspicion.

Freedom my arse.

Get a camera phone at record a video the journey.

Dont get me wrong, i love America but this sounds like something that could happen in the U.S. People sueing over ridicilous things etc.

The thing that pisses me off most about this is the fact that you can get in trouble for making an advance. Desipite what your mother will have you beleive, women are not phycic, if you are attracted to them, they will not know untill you show it. How are you supposed to pull anyone if your not allowed to show attraction.

Oh, and women who cry rape* are as bad as rapists. Think about it.

*just so I don't get flamed to death "crying" rape is like "crying" wolf. It means making it up.

I won't be making any advances as I already have a girlfriend heh.
