Has Valve taken off the offline ability?

Like the title asks, I keep on starting steam in offline mode so I have enough RAM to load HL as fast as possible. However, evrytime I click on the HL icon it says that "Would you like to start in offline mode or something", clicking on yes, I thought I be able to play the game because I ticked the box with "Remember my password", however I'm not able to play the game in offline mode. It keeps on coming up with a message saying that I can't play the game in offline mode, even though I have been able to d it when it first came out.

I'm just wondering if Valve disabled this kind of play because of all the pirated copies and such

Its just started happening to me tonight. Steam wont let me start HL2 in offline mode despite having followed everything to the letter.

This guy needs a headcrab :bounce:
