hey peeps.
I was wondering, when you dream, do you dream in black and white or in colour?. My friend said that its rare to have dreams that are in colour, but I dont know. Apparently she read it somewhere.
So I was wondering, are your dreams b&w, or colour? just wondering, casue my dreams are always in colour, never in b&w.

Never really thought of it. I dont think colors exist for me. They are neither black and white or color, just... a state of mind.
The fun part with my dreams are that I very often tend to become aware that I'm dreaming. It can be rather... odd... to control a dream...

yer, I had that last night, when I took control, thats such a cool feeling and experiance.
I never thought about colours and stuff till my friend said about it. And I got curious and wondered if anyone else knew anything or something.

Lucid dreaming rocks. I always dream in colour as far as I'm aware.

I dream in both, depends what I'm dreaming about.... some are randomly in Black and White.... but the majority are in colour... I think theres no real connection between the format of the dream and the person... but I don't know really...

Maybe old people dream slower, just like old computers are slower? They probably have lower resolution too, and no fancy FDAA (Full Dream Anti Aliasing) or DF (Dreamostrophic Filtering). :p

You dream in which ever you want. Very few people know this but you actually have control over your dreams. It just takes a long time to be able to make your dreams do what you want them to do but some people can do that. Learned that in Psychology.

Most people probably have had control over it at some time I think. Its just that its a bit hard to actually remember it afterwards :)

That could cause disturbed dreams yes, but unlikely help you control them.

Its easy: You need to know you are dreaming. Then the hard part comes, cause you cant just take control. At least I cant, it would be like trying to make a sculpture out of oil. Its more fluid motion... Expectations... What you think would be behind a door. But that's me, its most likely different for everyone.
One cant really describe it either, as no words can explain it in full.

Doppelgofer, I've only seen two of your posts, I hope I dont have to see the others if there all as imature and anti-social as those two.

Well if your different for dreaming in colour, then so am I. But that would make us the same, so we wouldnt be different anymore......ok I'll leave that before my head begins to hurt.

All my dreams are in colour..... all my dreams are so realistic that i can't tell if i'm awake or dreaming, until something wierd happens :x ...many a time has it made a fool of me when i've tried to wake up and i haven't been asleep :(

Omg you know what i hate? When your like trying to go to sleep, and your still partially up. Then sometimes you start dreaming, ALWAYS something like you tripping on the sidewalk or falling down the stairs. Then you jump up and proceed to near have a heart attack.

he, I drweamt once I was underwater (just baraly, face down, so you can't breath), and tried to get back up...problem was, I was wacking up, my body was still paralyzed (its done to prevent you from "falling of the tree"), so I thought I was drowning...thank god I awoke very quick...

Seriously, that so annoys me, cause you jump so violently kinda thing. I have this cupboard next to my bed, and I was lying really close to it, then I had a dream of tripping over, then I slammed my head on the cupboard, which really hurt like hell. Why the hell does that have to happen?

Damn man, why cant my dreams be real. You wanna switch brains? although that wouldnt work. Shutup!!

heh i love some of my dreams for example. every scene in one of my dreams was like a beautiful painting with an anonamous author and the water reflexed the unseen sun hiundden behind the bright colorful low clouds and i was flying, a control flight mind u. i think thats why i love flying. anywho in that dream i got to get a girl(nothing nasty) and fly into more beautiful places.

most people have multiple dreams in one night and few remeber any of them. it is hard to say wether u too control of any of them if u cant remember.

i dont know wut i dreamed about last night but i do remember falling in love with a girl from a dream....

I dream in colour i suppose. Its annoying sometimes, because you take control of your dream and its really fun, but then you think something like, 'Shouldn't i be awake if I'm thinking this active?" and you wake up. Damn brain!

What about dreams that carry on night to night. So its a like series. I love them, i had one going on for a week once, it was so cool.

The other night i had a dream about half-life2. I was on the very edge of being awake so it felt very real.

What happened in the dream was.... I was sat on the edge of my bed with a keyboard a mouse and a screen (that wasn't really there, more like a hologram or something) floating in front of me. Of course, this was all normal as everything in dreams always is. I went into half-life2 and the "title" screen was laid out pretty similar to the original. Only, the background was completely black, it had the HL2 logo in the top left corner and it was white. Then you could see Gordon's head on the right side of the screen behind everything. Across the top of the screen it had an animated "Half-Life 2" thing, where it was moving side to side kinda like Half-life. The menu consisted of (from top to bottom) "Orientation training", "New Game", "Control set up", "Configuration", "Lan Game", "Multiplay", "G-Man" (Dunno what that was meant to be) and "Exit". So anyway, i pressed on New game and it went straight into the game with no "Easy-Normal-Hard" thing. As soon as it loaded (The console was the Picture of Gordon's head) I was stood out in the dried up sea bed, looking up at the screen which then vanished (it kinda "shut" the left and right sides came together until it was gone) so i looked around, there wasn't anything. Then a heard a bump coming from the busted sub, so i walked over and had a look inside and an Ant Lion came charging out at me, i jumped behind a beam and it ran into that. That left it dazed for a second, so i ran out of the sub again with several more Ant Lions now coming for me (Remember, this was dream and felt very real....it wouldn't have surprised me if the bed had been wet when i woke up....It wasn't though, thankfully). I ran round the other side of the sub and i was running away from these things, that were slowly catching up to me. One of them got close when i just grabbed a piece of 2 by 4 out of no where and smashed it over the head. Then i was suddenly at the buggy, which i couldn't see until i was there. So i climbed in and turned towards the Ant Lions. They were just stood there looking at me, so i charged towards them and ran them over. After i had made sure they were dead by running them over several times i decided to move on. But instead of going the way they did in the video, i decided to drive out to the big bridge and see if anything was over there. When i got over there i climbed out of the buggy (which then vanished but i didn't mind) i saw a gun on the floor, but it was a tommy gun. So i picked that up and then noticed a door in the bridge. So i went through the door and it was an lift which took me right up to the road way part of the bridge. When i got up there it was really foggy and i saw several British and American soldiers right out of WWII. They were behind a barricade shooting at a load of Ant Lions and other Xen aliens. There was a guy on a .50 Cal then 2 guys with No4 rifles. Then a medic with a tommy gun. Then there was a commander who also had a tommy gun. Then there were 2 Sherman tanks. Eventually all the aliens were killed and i was asking these guys what was going on. The commander started saying something about securing the bridge as it was vitally important. All of a sudden we could hear a loud banging noise and then shouts of "Strider!". Some guys (the ones out of the city 17 vids) came running out firing their guns into the fog. Then 2 strider's came walking out. The Sherman tanks started blasting away and everyone was shooting. One of the tanks drove forward pretty fast and ran into the legs of one of the strider's, knocking it off the bridge (that looked cool watching it fall all that way(i wonder what it will be like if that happens in the actual game)) But then the other strider smashed its leg through the tank, killing the driver (don't ask me how i knew that, it was after all a dream) One of the tank crew managed to jump out before the strider then tried to lift its leg out. It couldn't get it out so it instead tried to shoot the tank. The tank however was still full of unused shells which meant that when the strider fired, it blew up its legs and part of the bridge. This made the bridge very unstable and it started to collapse. So i climbed in the buggy (don't ask me how it got up there) and so did one of the other guys. One of them fell off as the bridge collapsed under him and the rest climbed onto the tank. We started speeding along and were right near the end of the bridge when a manatee thing came flying over and started to shoot at us. However, the Sherman blew it out the sky pretty fast so that wasn't a problem. Then when i was about to go round the corner i suddenly realised that i was a sleep and i woke up. I was holding my arms out above me as if i was holding a steering wheel. Man it was so coll though. It seemed to last for ages as well.

Wow. Thats a lot of typing.

I dream in colour and it seems very real at the time, but generally when I think back, the colour seems kinda faded and pale.
The only times I remember having any consious control over a dream were times when I was desperate to wake up and so it didn't last for very long. Infact whenever I have any control over my part in the dream all I want to do is wake up and then I actually have to physically open my eyes, but that doesn't always work because sometimes I can't move and then I try to shout to get some-one to wake me up, but of course that doesn't work either.

Wow, what a cool dream. I like it when you wake up, and your like acting out your dream...course thats considered sleep walking, but thats a whole different kettle of fish.

I rarely remember my dreams, but from why I can remember, they've been in colour.

lol, when I was younger, for awhile I thought the old times were all in black and white, becasue the only stuff from the old times was black and white...good thing I got out of that phase lol. Off topic I know, but its my topic so bleh:p
Last night, I had a dream I was running around my old primary school, and I had the pistol from half-life 2 videos, and I was chasing combine guys around. It was pretty cool, they were hiding behind boxes, and when they looked round, I fired and took them out straight away, easy but hey, its a dream. Then they all started to run away, I started chasing them, but then I woke up, so I never did find out why they were running.

if you're talking about the same thing I'm thinking of...there's an explanation, I'll just give it brief since I can't really remember it all.

anyways the deal with the trippin is that when you're right about falling asleep your body shut downs(or the least lower the responsiveness) some of the nervous system...for some reason sometimes this tricks your body/mind into thinking that you're trippin or falling. you can probably find some reading about this that explains it in more detail, but that it what I've heard about this thing.

also it's worth noting that you don't necesarily have to be dreamin about falling.(although this often is incorporated into you're current dream when experiencing this...like when other stuff from the real world effects you lucid(think that's the word) dreaming) but it's really that shut down of some of the nervous system that gives you the feeling that you're trippin.

also as far as I can remember I always dream in colours.

dreams are an interesting subject.

Thanks for the info PriNcE oF SpAcE, and I agree, sleep is an interesting subject.

Most interesting, this happens to me alot. I always wondered why it happened.

hmmm really I should have quoted sgt. Igneri instead since what he explained is closer to what I was talking about... edit coming up.

What I like, is when you like, see something really quickly during the day, something you dont think twice about, then you dream about it that night.
Like one time, I looked at the front of a postcard, just looked and looked away, didnt think about it at all. then that night I had a dream with the postcard in it, which was wierd.

What I meant by control you dreams is by knowing you're asleep and doing whatever you want because you know you're dreaming. They've done studies on people when they're sleeping and told the test subject they'd flash a red light quickly when they were dreaming to let them know they were asleep. When they saw the red flash in their dreams they noticed they were dreaming and started doing whatever they wanted. Someone people are able to do this whenever they want, where as most people don't even know they're dreaming until they wake up.

Sometimes I have dreams that seem so real to me. In one of my dreams something happened that I've always wanted to and it made me feel so happy and when I woke up I was kinda depressed :( But hey, it was only a dream :). No it was nothing perverted.

I hardly remember my dreams, and never know Im in one. All my dreams I remember are in color.

i dream in color, sometimes its colors ive never seen

I have controlled my dreams but not for long, whenever i take control of my dreams they get really wierd almost scary. Even when i dont have control of my dream i dream about things that would scare people. Im not saying my dreams are scary they are just wierd beyond belief i cant even describe them

Im telling you, theres something wonderful locked up here *points to head*
