Trepanation... what a weird thing. Has anyone heard about this, done some study on it? This is a seriously freaky form of surgery that is done while the person is concious, and I can't imigine ever doing something like this.

Can you imigine someone drilling a hole into your head to release the pressure inside?

Come on over to my house! I'll give you free, successful trepanation surgery or your money back!

"Are.. you sure that.. the pressure isn't there for a good reason?"
"Yes."

Heard of it before - 'to let the gods in'

cavement used Trepanning to remove blood from the head, headaches and such... and they survived.

Well, in my current obsession (judging from my avatar and sig) there is a guy who died from drilling a hole in his head to find the eternal high.

one of the teachers at my old school has been out for 2 years because of brain tumors, and he has had holes drilled in his head numerous times. But no, i could never imagine it happening to me. Way too freaky. On a side note, i was watching some e.r. show on TLC a day or two ago, where a man came in who had cut off his own hand and refused to have it reattached. When they got a psych down there for analysis it turns out he had a fetish for amputees and wanted to become one himself.

Most medical practices involving drilling a hole in the head was to let the bad spirits out. Was done because of headaches.

it's cool when they excavate skulls with holes in them, sometimes from being murdered and sometimes from prehistoric surgery.
