any help?

yes I have vista

Run it in XP mode. Although that might not work either since it came out during Windows 3.1.

I think it came out in 98 or so. Either way goto the .exe file and adjust the compatibility mode, I'd also recommend looking out to see if there are any game patches as well (update the game firstly). You might also tick the administrator tag as that often resolves a lot of write problems old games have under Vista, when they want to write to the program files folder, rather than Save games in the Documents folder.

I got GF to run fine in XP so try compatibility mode like others have said (right-click properties somewhere). It's a superb game so stick with it.

Compatibility mode should work.

There will come a section where you will have to manually slow down your CPU speed because the rate it processes is too fast to solve a puzzle.

Don't use XP compatibilty, Use 98 instead. I had this problem with this game on Vista aswell, and running it patched,98 compatibilty mode and Admin got it working. Oh and be sure to enable the 3D hardware acceleration (this is done under "options" when the game runs) That will help with the cutscenes.

what's the gameplay like for this? i keep hearing its name uttered in reverent tones amongst the hardcore.

/me stabs and disembowels Dog

Gameplay-wise, Grim Fandango is another in a long line of 'Click on this thing, then click on this thing' adventure games. But it is seriously one of the best-written games of all time, has one of the best settings of all time, and is all-in-all hilarious, original, and awesome.

It's one of those things.

found on a internet site about this of puting to run in windows 98 and administer on and game runs well

I am liking the game a lot even if I am using a guide

cuz honestly is kind of hard to know what to do or maybe I dont pay much attention to it

for example giving a comunist book to a bee so he can form a rebellion against the sindicate,I thought I needed to do something like bribe the sindicate leader or something like that

or puting the dogtags of a sailor into a corpse in amorgue to convince everyone that the sailor died and take his post in the next ship

same happened whit monkey island4 when me and my brother played some years ago

though I like the game a lot,I really needed a game like these, too bad they dont make them anymore

Yeah I love Grim Fandango. Some of the tasks are ridiculously obscure, but then I suppose the flipside is that it feels more satisfying whenever you complete one unaided.

I beated it,it was very cool

what other games like these you recomend?

Try running the game (and other Win9x era games) using a DOS box emulator.

EDIT> True DOS that is, not the built-in semi-DOS command prompt.

You can download it for free.

Oh, couple of Win9x era games I liked, (if your into old FPS):

Redneck Rampage (Yes, it's a game about rednecks, but it was actually a pretty fun game for it's time)

and Blood

Plus, I liked the Myst series too.

I bought the curse of moneky island and have installed and all but it dont run

put the compatibility and such and still it come whit a "couldnt run harddrive version" or something like that

I have vista

vista

Mystery solved.

Put another way: "why do I constantly have problems running games with my piece of crap fail operating system? It's like hardly anything works. Everyone with XP has no problems, but nothing works on Vista. I wonder if Vista could be the problem...?"

He got it to work newb. He already beat it.

And vista is sweet. **** yall.

Get Penumbra: Black Plague

And Download and beat Penumbra Overture first.

Fun fun.

Different game, same problem: Vista.

Noob.

If your still having problems, these guys have created a new installer that provides full Vista compatibility for it. http://quick.mixnmojo.com/quick-and...and-launcher-and-curse-of-monkey-island-setup

Mc Bane this game also has issues with XP. It's not fair to blame Vista when an old game doesn't work properly on it. Technology advances and that means breaking compatibility with older software. I have Vista and i have very little issues with it when it come to gaming, no more than i did with XP.
