has half life 2 been made hdr readysince episode 1 came out

I believe the answer to your question is no. I myself have never liked hdr anyway, all it does is make stuff look bright white and the transition is way too obvious when you've entered a area that's only slightly darker than you where in before.

You'll have to wait for the next SDK update.
And that is.. when? And why a SDK update, does that include a Half-Life 2 HDR update?

I dunno. Eventually. It doesn't include hl2 HDR. That will never come to be. What it will include is Episode 1 content for mapping, meaning you can make hl2 maps with HDR in them.

you can create your own mod and implement HDR in that. all the light ents have HDR keys

personally i've never been that impressed by HDR. it isn't as realistic as it's claimed to be, and while it has dramatic effect in certain scenarios (the chopper attack in lost coast or the core in ep1) the rest of the time it just gets tedious

i didn't mean half life 2 itself i meant the ability to make a mod with HDR whinch it sounds like you can thanks.

For mods adn suchlike you can. Yes. No doubt.

HL2 Itself is no-HDR. It will ot be updated by VALVe, since that will be a rather large update.

If you want HL2 in HDR, make a HL2HDR-Mod. :)

If you open a light's properties, you'll see HDR in there somewhere... and then when you compile, you'll have an HDR checkbox in the compile dialog.

But I'm not sure what light settings to use; I've never used it before, because I don't like HDR lighting. It makes you feel like you're walking through the game with a home video camera, that has wild exposure adjustment, and a dreamworld-type glow. Good thing you can toggle it :)
