I been lookin around.. and this is what someone said in BM:S forums

This is just a rough idea on how you could get HDR in to your HL2 maps.

1. Before compiling your map make sure you place an env_tonemap_controller some where inside your map.

2. Compile your map and don't run the game

3. Copy all the files that were compiled from your half life 2 maps directory to your lost coast maps directors (lost coast/lost coast/maps)

4. Run lost coast and make sure hdr is enabled.

5. Open your map and run the buildcubemaps command

(this next step may not be necessary if HDR is now working).
6. run the command mat_hdr_enabled 1 and mat_hdr_level 2 if necessary.

7. Reload your map and repeat the previous step if necessary.
Good luck,

Wierd I just tried that and it didnt work but when building cubemaps it took 6 screens or so of each tonemap scale per face on the cubemap. I will try again and see what hapens.

UPDATE:

Yes I have HDR working in 1 of my maps. The props and textures that require cubemaps are bright white and the sky doesnt change colour but HDR on brushes works. I can't wait until the new SDK is released!

To fix the problem with the cubemaps, try changing your skybox texture to one of the ones from DOD or LC (they're special HDR skyboxes).
