I know this has been braught up before but i thought i would suggest it again.

Is it possible to limit newly signed up members to 10 replies (or whatever) in existing threads before they can post a topic.

Or maybe limit them to posting new topics in a single purpose made forum section.

The only reason I suggest it is because last night really highlighted the wierdness that some people find it neccasary to take part in, This isnt aimed at new members in general, just a safety feature against people who like to spam useless stuff everywere.

Just a thought :O

Good idea, in theory. But if somebody wants to be an ass badly enough, they will just put ten spam replies in a legitimate thread and then create new threads. That will make an even worse mess for the mods to clean up because they'll have to delete useless posts within legitimate threads, in addition to useless threads.

Yeah, that's a good idea in theory, and it might deter some illwillers but I have to agree with SMT that it might make the cleanup harder.

What about someone who joins just to ask 1 question, yet they cant make a thread to ask it?

There's absolutely no reason behind it. The only reason we'd have for that is if we had a spam attack again. In which case, this wouldn't cause too much of a problem because e-mail confirmation/validation is activated now and also we can lock down the forums if we need to.
