Headphones

don't go sony- if you only want to get earbud headphones, get shure. (i think thats how you spell it). Sony are pretty much a rip-off in all audio products. If you don't want to limit yourself to earbuds (i.e. want good good sound) go for Grado (like the sr60) or if you're limited by budget somewhat go for Koss.
Trust me though, you get what you pay for- i have never stopped being blown away by these Grado SR60s since i bought them months ago- the sound quality is just awesome.

I am not too obsessed with sound quality, I just want somthing that doesn't suck and is comfortable.

I have the fontopia earfones and they're wicked, although they tend to pick up a lot of wax you didn't even know existed within your ears... I mean you could use 20 ear buds and when you pull the earfone from your ear it'll still have wax on it.

One more thing. Cover your ears up completley (so they're air tight) and walk around a bit.... hear the thudding? When you first get the earfones because you're used to the old style that let air pass into your ear the thudding as you walk around sounds really odd, but its like the noise you make when you breathe, you get used to it and learn to block it out.

Hey J_Tweedy how do the Sr60's sit on your head/ears. Some people said the Grados won't sit well on everyones head/ears. Im thinking of getting the SR80. But first I have to test 'em. I have only tested the RS2 but the price was too high.

i find the sr60s relatively comfortable- no pinching like some people describe. They sit on your ear and dont have 'cups' which might put some people off. I guess the only downside for me is their openness. When im walking down the street and a truck/ heavy traffic goes by, i can hardly even hear the music. Also on the bus i have to turn it down heaps (which doesn't matter so much- the sound quality is still v good at low levels) so others dont hear everything.
The sound quality of these babies way makes up for these small gripes tho.

sennheiser headphones are the job when it comes to sound quality. They are quite expensive, but they are the best in my opinion.

In my opinion Sennheisers are over rated. I prefer Beyerdynamics, Grado and AKG.

i agree Bakurei. Ive seen a pair of Sennheisers last less than 4 or 5 months. Too much plastic. All opinions though i suppose, only someone who has tried them all is really in a position to comment fully. Those guys at headphone.com for example- they quite like Sennheisers.
