Ok, here's a question by an uninformed person - maybe a dumb one...

I have lousy harmon kardon stock speakers on my HP system and I want to upgrade them. However, if I buy a pair of PC headphones, is this a solution of sorts in the meantime? What I mean is, will the sound coming through the headphones be better and clearer than that of the external speakers (if I buy decent headphones)? Is this determined by the soundcard? I'm ignorant on this one, please explain.

P.S. because of wife and kids, headphones are probably a good alternative for me anyway, but I am hoping they sound better than the speakers.

Thanks - Huck

yes its determined by the sound card. Buy a set of sennheiser PC150's! The sound quality from them is superb with lots of bass and you get a mic boom as an added bonus!!! The sound transmit quality from the mic boom is second to none for a headset designed for the PC!
