Bug fixes Update + Important Info



As always, I'm listening to the community and I fixed the bugs submitted by you guys in-game or on the forums! Thanks for your comments and bug reports folks!

-Problematic spawning barrels on the Sector door - fixed!
-Combines spawning with Rebels weapons sometimes - fixed!
-Made Alyx's cryogenic cage smaller and easier to carry. (but nonetheless as comfortable for her don't worry...)
-Park benches can now be thrown! :)
-Turrets less agressive but as deadly as before. (can't control their damage)
-Made HQ front doors easier to enter/exit.
-Rain ambient sound added. It stops when the rain stops. (like previously planned but ditched for deadline reasons)
-Removed razortrain for better net performance. (tears)
-Removed barrels inside HQ.
-Fixed some cubemaps: outside buildings have better windows reflections.
-Slightly optimised visual performance in some areas.
-Changed the location of the ar2 alt ammo. Will you find it?


Very Important
--------------------


1- Use Winzip or Winrar to extract the ZIP. The windows Zip function will give you corrupted files and you will have purple rain or weird objects physics on servers.

2- A new file was added to the ZIP: obj_mq_revolters.res. This file tells Steam what files you need to run the map properly when you download it from a server. Put this file where you put the map (.BSP) itself. However, I recommend you download the map instead.

3- Server admins, use "sv_ allowdownload 0" to keep the bandwidth for the players.

4- Turn OFF Anti-aliasing and Anisotropy for a huge framerate boost.

Downloading, heh less aggressive turrets, meaning they wont kill rebels? *Hopes so*

Have you fixed the bug allowing doors to open even if there is stuff blocking them?
 
Well, I just played it, and, as I told you, VERY nice map! I was rather upset that the connection died, though, because I had gotten into the COmbine base, and was workingo n releasing Alyx. Currently, there's no servers up...Please make one again!

Did you fix the spawn points?

And you really need to move the location of the RPG and Crossbow... They are too easy to get... And they lie too close to the rebel base.

Okay, now I have really mucked up. After putting all the files where they need to be I tried to join a server using the new version. I get a message saying certain files are missing. Can someone help me out?
 
read the readme, did you put the other.RES file in with the maps folder, that should sort you out.

I just played for a bit, it feels different, its better, the ar2 ammo is near the rebel side now, so the combine dont have any easy kill in their spawn corridors, and NO COMBINE WITH GRAV GUNS! much better.
 
.bsp and .res goes into Half-Life 2 Deathmatch/hl2dm/maps
particle folder (with its content) goes into Half-Life 2 Deathmatch/hl2dm/materials/

Wait, i have the first one, do i have to delete the whole first version and get the new one?
 
nope, make sure you use winzip or winrar, not windows to extract the files from the ZIP.
 
Is there anywhere else i can download the new version, because i unsubscribed to fileplanet a long time ago, and i dont wanna wait for an hour or so to download something real quick.

BTW, sorry guys, I had to shutdown the server.
 
Okay I am looking at the file in Winzip and instead of having a Particles file it has a rain.VMT and rain.VTF. Should I treat those like I would the particle file?
 
Good thing the update is here but how are we supposed to play it if there isnt any server running it?
 
Play on your own, learn the new ar2 ammo position, and admire his work. :cheese:
Oh and Rebels still get killed by turret :( How do you "feed" turrets and what is it supposed to do anyway?)
 
Extract ALL the stuff first, youll see the rain files are in a PARTICLE folder. You copy the whole folder containing the rain files.

Turrets shoot at everything thats how they are made. They can't recognise combines from rebels. SDK limitation sadly.

If you want to play, i think the pc zone server is running the new version in the current map cycle, and the admin has been there all day playing it, and its still going. Do a search for the map and you should find it, its nice and lag free.

Gah, what about Antlion Troopers? Or does that only work for single player maps. Ah well, only just found the window route, so that makes up for it. :D

This map begs for reliable servers. They seem to stay up for about ten minutes before crashing.
 
This map looks really great, reminds me of dod style gameplay (probably because of the running around outside and rain) but darn aussie servers haven't wised up enough to put it on their maplist. :\
 
Argghhh need.... servers....

A PC Zone server was running the map today, but when a player slot was free, they switched maps ;(
It had a lovely ping.
 
I have a weapons suggestion to make. In SP the Combine carry one or two manhacks with them that they can deploy at anytime. Any chance of the Combine Team in your map being able to use manhacks?
 
Any type of NPC will attack all players. They can't make the difference between Combine and Rebel.

The day Valve adds this function to the SDK, you guys will have manhacks, stryders, dog and freakin Father Gregory in this map! :)

This is a pretty awesome map. This is what i hoped hl2dm to be all along.
Great that such a simple mod, through this map, has showed such potential for fantastic scenarios and single player like campaigns.

If you make some more maps like this, i'd like to see an apartment takeover type map.

Combine are taking over an entire apartment building because they have found that a resistence is growing, storing weapons and explosives ready to attack.
The combine objective would be to take over sections of the building one by one until it is all theirs... not sure if this is possible. hehe
