Sometime in 2000 - 2002 a bunch of high level employs at Blizzard Entertainment left. These wern't the employs that created Arenanet, oh no they started Flagship Studios. Most of them worked on Diablo and Diablo 2...

Hell-Gate: London a game set in London[Obviously], far into the future where hell is alive.
You don't play as a guy who saves everything, that was won 5 years ago.

I'm sure many of you remember Diablo. Randoms generated on the fly ;). So great huh? Well Well Well..gets whats back! Yes they built there own engine to Randomly Generate London Style Levels on the fly. Just as in Diablo you can play, play, play again and have a new experince every time.

There will be multiplayer, 3rd and 1st person view.
It will be a FPS combined with RPG elements.

Weapons will be Stat-Based.(Probably meaning no Damage Locations to be Rpgish)

Hit & Misses are an RPG element.

Remember in D2 and D1 random items would drop with random attributes, magical n rare n all that..

There back, back again! Remember D2's Gem Style System, Back, Back Again! You can imbue potions into your weapons.

This game looks absolutly amazing and sounds absolutly amazing from the well worded PC Gamers US Article.

Bill Roper has come to give us a great game once again, just as he did back with the oringal Warcraft.

Another World-Exclusive Anncoument next months.. One of the biggest franchises in Pc Gaming makes its triumphant return...
Starcraft has been seen in alot of the last few articles.. could it be we see before E3?
Could it be Sc2 is coming! It better be.

It's not exactly hard to create London style architecture on the fly:

Grey road with pale coloured ex-council semi-detached houses, a corner shop and a crappy excuse for a kid's park (which has 2 football nets and a small playground full of used needles). Vary it with the odd burnt out car by the side of the road, some flats and a motorway on a bridge above the road and you're set. That said, I'm sure it'll be great.I just have a dislike for London (and most inner-city areas) suburb type things. It'll be interesting how they randomly generate Canary Wharf type areas though.

Anyway, I thought London was a hell hole anyway? Noisy, polluted and expensive!

They had to create a totally new engine for there game because no other engine on the market could supply Totally Random Generated Levels on the fly. Which is quite nice, it creates uniqueness every single time you play.
-Diablo(1) would have got boring A LOT faster if it didn't random generate it's levels.

There are alot of undergound things in London(WW2 times and things) and 50% of the game will be taken underground.

the pc gamer u.s. article on this is astonishing. i can't wait !!

oooo maybe you start off in the london dungeons :D yay! Do you get to kill traffic wardens and london mayres? hmm, mayers? bah spelling.

The first link on Google with the query 'Hell-Gate: London' scares me ;(

However bad London gets, I can always console myself with the thought that at least it's not the North.
