Hellgate: London Multiplayer = subscription based MMO???!!!

In addition to yesterday's announcement that Hellgate: London will be shipping in Summer 2007, developer Flagship Studios revealed this week that the game's multiplayer component is a subscription-based MMO. Speaking to Shacknews at CES in Las Vegas, CEO Bill Roper noted that the game is a full scale massively multiplayer game, with genre trappings such as guilds, continually developed content, a full social system, and raid-type gameplay.

As much as I don't mind paying subscriptions (playing WoW D: ), I wouldn't subscribe for a game like this :| I'd feel like im paying to play Diablo II online with guns.

it's always been planned as an mmo, one which you can play offline though. This is the first I've heard that it was subscription based, but if the game kicks ass like I expect it to then I'd pay.

gg HG:L. Not buying a gimped SP game (and it will be compared to MP, what do you think they will spend more time on? the cash cow or the one hitter quitter?) and I refuse to pay to play for any game. It could jack me off everyday and I still wouldn't pay to play.

Humm, this seems kind of disappointing. I was really excited for this game. It looks interesting. If they make it a full scale mmo it might just be the 1st mmo i would like to try out. But as it stands now, it doesnt look all that great.

you can get a hooker to blow you, for an "at the gate price" and you aren't forced to pay any monthly fees , only trade-off is VD, and doctors can do things for that now
