Looks like Hellgate will make a comeback. HanbitSoft, the Korean owners of the IP and the company quite succesfully operating the game in Korea, have acquired the publishing rights for North-America and Europe. If all goes well it should (re-)launch later this year. More on Kotaku.

Didn't see this one coming. Might be interesting if the Asians have worked on the game since it was released three years ago over here. The trailer of the Tokyo expansion pack launching in Korea later this year doesn't show any proper gameplay (or much else for that matter) so I'll remain sceptic for now. The idea does sound exciting though.

Heh, being Korean they probably just added more grind and dead Japanese.

and seizure inducing sparkly effects. also it's now called Starcraftgate

Hellgate: London is huge amounts of fun in this forum poster's opinion, but was completely borked by what was quite possibly the worst pay-to-play strategy I've ever seen attempted on a western market. The combat was addicting and the weapons and armor were genuinely cool. If I can find my disks and key or whatever is needed I'll definitely give it another whirl.

I was a very vocal alpha tester for the original release. Flagship did not listen to many of issues that the testers agreed upon. It also didn't help that a handful of game-breaking bugs somehow went untouched throughout alpha, beta, and well into retail. They gambling on the popularity of D2 too much, and lost. It's unfortunate, because what they had could have been quite enjoyable if they had spent a couple more months perfecting things.
