ok so i have this problem with the sound (likea buttload of other people) but with me its not just sound, whenever the sound stutters the game lags and it bugs the shit outa me my computers not a piece of junk either ive got a 9800 pro 512 ram latests drivers and all that junk but i cant even play at 800x600 on the lowest settings without this crap happening does ne one else have this too?

p.s. sorry if this has been posted a shitload but im in a hurry and didnt have time to look

If so, thats HL2's checkpoint system saving your game for you. It happens for everyone. No way around it.

adding -heapsize 256000 to the launch options will massively reduce the save game stutter, try it.

I've heard of a lot of people with the sound stuttering thing...

Either it's constant and the sound has a clicky/echo thing and they're using 4.1, 5.1 or 7.1 speakers... or it is sporatic when certain sounds play. I think it is because of the way HL2 precaches (or doesn't precache) sounds.

right click half-life2 in the games list in steam, select Properties, and click the Launch Options button, enter -heapsize 256000 in the box, click ok, and ok again. So no you won't have to do it everytime you play, just the one time, you're telling steam to run that command whenever hl2 is launched.

Have you tried defraggmenting your harddrive.I didnt realize how big the half-life2,steam,valve program was and was astonished at how much th HD was fragmented after installation.BTY I defragged right before installation. This worked for my sound and graphical stuttering.
