OMFG is all I have to say. I hate anime and that right there is the reason why. It's always so...messed up!

It's the same far fetched garbage that comes out of Japan. I know not all anime is bad but the large majority of it has so many far fetched elements it is just pathetic. Sure you can say you watch it because you can "escape" from this world and watch the other world. Well that world is completely rediculous to the point it just becomes pathetic. Sure it is sci-fi/fantasy but none of it makes any sense. You just have to accept that it can do that. Movies like Star Wars do it right. There is a backstory to why things are. You don't just have to accept something because that's the way it is.

Why can this person magically fly? Because they can duh! Why can this person do whatever the heck the writer made up when they made it? Because they can! In Star Wars there was a backstory...such as technology for space flight, midiclorines for the force. They always explained it. Not to mention in anime they always laugh at awkward moments and laugh pretty much after anyone says anything. Its just dumb.

I also hate the story they always have. It's always completely random and makes no sense other than you are force fed the story and have to accept its bullshit. The story is always fakey and is almost always un necessary. Granted there is some deviation is the stories..so I wont go on too long here.

Next is the POS art style. Why the hell do they always jump through the air and they slowly move forward on the screen while it shows fast moving lines then the air slowly moves back with fast moving lines. It just looks stupid. Everything is exxagurated. They have REALLY REALLY big eyes and really small mouths. Their noses are just dots or about the size of while their hair is always some un natural color and is as big as their body. They always draw the characters with the top of their body being way too large and the small part being way too small. That is something I would expect a gradeschool kid to mess up on. It doesn't look cool, just annoys the hell out of me and lets me know whatever I am watching is complete BS.

I'm done...I can rant on more if you want but I just hate the fakey far fetched anime.

Cowboy Bebop = Man with gun flies through space in a ship

Trigun = Man with gun lives in the wild west

Ghost in a Shell = Woman with gun gets naked and creepy nerds beat off to it

Until there is an anime where not every ****ing character has a background that sounds like it was written by some emo kiddie on the shitter, and when they finally learn how to draw humans correctly, then I might give it a try.

And no, I will not give "Anime with guns/swords #102140120" a try, it all sucks
 
Whaaatever (I don't like Trigun anyway but I wonder if you've watched Bebop at all?). That's really stupid oversimplification you've got there:

Saving Private Ryan = man with gun walks through France

Fight Club = man watches Brad Pitt punch people but actually he IS Brad Pitt

The Truman Show = man lives in TV show.

Aliens = men with guns shoot aliens.

It's just silly. I've forgotten who it is who said 90% of anything is shit, but it holds true. It's ridiculous to say 'all anime is teh suck' because it's dismissing an entire form of entertainment - unless you really have watched every anime ever and you really think they are all shit. It's like the idiots who say all games are evil (or shit). It's like saying all Disney films are awful (including Pixar!). It's like saying 'all fantasy/sci-fi/steampunk/victorian romantic/whatever novels are rubbish.' Stupid, stupid, stupid. There's a difference between not liking something and that something being bad. Perfect example: I hate the po-faced, pedantic, nerd-tinkering style of Gran Turismo that in my opinion sucks all the fun out of things - but it is a good game. Same with anime. Even if we ignore the fact that your complaints appear to be based on stereotypes and generalisations (exactly like "all games have shit plots," or "all shooting games are crap because you're always a stupid muscle-bound hero slaughtering hundreds of soldiers" - not true, is it?) - that you don't personally like 'the style' doesn't mean shit.

EDIT: That said, I ****ing hate Yu-Gi-Oh (and its ilk) and Naruto is the most annoying thing ever.

first off, star wars, as good as it may be, is not its own genre. there are a bunch of horrible space flicks that r like "me ship is teh sechs ans i blows up ur kekeke ^____^" and a lot of anime actually explains a lot as well, watch Samurai X for instance. and sulkudodds, your right man. just about EVERY piece of entertainment can be made fun of like that. Now I love LotR, it is possibly the best piece of literature ever, but somebody could just say "LotR = magic ring almost destroy world" and technically they would be right, but it gets a lot deeper than that in every way. And again not all anime has "REALLY REALLY big eyes and really small mouths" your just steryotyping again. the storys are not alwayse completely random, and i will not accept that it is all bullshit cuz its not. Name one genre of something you enjoy and i bet i can be just as much of an ignorant **** as you are being.

Yeah there is. I am just saying I hate anime because it looks stupid for one. Right there is a reason good enough to not like all anime because all of it looks dumb. It is adult cartoons and they didn't up the intelligence it takes to watch or understand it. That is all.

Oh look, different styles. See, even the thing that you think defines 'anime' - the artwork - is pretty varied between different films. Niether can you claim it requires no intelligence to watch. Analogy time again: unless you've actually watched some good anime, it's like a japenese guy watching an episode each of CSI: Miami, Celebrity Love Island and Barney the Dinosaur and then proclaiming that western TV sucks and is dumb. Or perhaps you have watched Bebop, Last Exile, Blood, Spriggan, Akira, Ghost in the Shell, Gungrave, Perfect Blue, Eva and so on, hmm? If you have, then I guess it's your opinion. If you've watched them and you think they're stupid then fair enough.

I don't see how you can protest against the negative stereotyping of videogames and then come out with this stuff.

No I just dislike the look of it very much. I looked at all of those pictures sulkdodds posted and I didn't find any of them cool. They all had the same art style that I dislike.

There may be some anime with a decent story but when it looks like that it doesn't matter.

I find anime pathetic...and none of you will be able to change my opinion.

P.S. if you seperate that guys head then remove the eyes, nose and mouth he resembles a mushroom.

They really, really didn't. And the point of them wasn't to look cool (I'm not keen on this myself) but to demonstrate that it isn't all one art style. It's as varied as the art of animation films over here. Buuuut whatever.
