Hi i've been waiting for months to play hl2 and now i have

msi k8n neo2 platinum
a64 3500+
corsair twinx 3200c2
300gb sata
radeon 9800pro 128
audigy 2 zs plat.
stealth 520w
and stuff

so now the damned mobo won"t load. I know it works because it actually booted once, when i had only the vid card, processor and memory pluged in. then when i saw the POST i went apeshit and plugged the rest of the stuff in (HD, optical drive, fans, sound card, rheostats. etc) and the motherboard would turn on and turn the fans on and everything but i get no input from anything, be it monitor, keyboard, or even the power button. it does not respond once the system is turned on.
I really don't understand what i'm doing wrong, the mobo is in place, ATX and other little power cord are plugged in, radeon is plugged in, front panel connections seem to be in order. front panel audio stuff shouldn't matter. nothing else at all is connected but it still won't open up.

any idea or suggestion about what to do or try will be immensely appreciated. thanks

Pretty similar, 3500+ Neo2 plat...

Does it beep when you start up and refuse to go through to the boot sequence? This occured to me twice. The first time i just restarted it 4-5 times while unplugging and plugging a recently installed usb joystick. And it booted fine, no problems for 2 months.
It happened again 3 or so weeks ago and one of the strangest things fixed it... I unplugged the HD, and it booted (up to the point it requests an OS) plugged it back in, restarted and no problems! for now...

I think it just takes messin with.... I dunno how i even fixed those 2 times...

i have development, i think either my power supply or motherboard is messed up because now I get video output 1/3 of the time, and sometimes i don't get video even when usb output is good, which i know it is because my saitek keyboard lights up when it is connected. when i don't have video i also don't have the power switch. just usb. pretty damn weird.

it also stops working altogether as soon as i plug in anything more than the hard drive. meaning if i put the IDE cable in the mobo it stops loading.

oh yeah and if I don't have my sata HD plugged in and powered, nothing will move. except the fans as usual.

i'm really scratching my head to the point of hair decoloration.

Well, you could try refreshing the CMOS, by pulling out (and putting back in 5+ secs later) the motherboard battery... That would fix any speed issues (if the motherboard is set at a frequency that is out of range of the graphics card (or other perhiperals that aren't working).

i'm starting to be quite sure that the problem is my motherboard's power routing. see i just switched on my power supply, and the system went on by itself. also even when the system is shut down (but power supply on of course), my saitek keyboard glows. i don't think its supposed to receive juice when the mobo is off.

i guess i'm at a point where a just conclusion would be: it sucks ostrich balls to be me. guess i'll have to get another mobo. or see if it can be repaired.

i cant believe this. you wanna know what fixed the deal?

lifting my damned case from its side onto its feet.
everything went fine after that.
stupid ass informatics.

so its working fine now?

You have a vertical tower and it was laying on its side and that made your computer poltergiest? :rolling:

I'll have to remember not to do that. lol
