Help, can't format my PC

My Pc won't format itself.
I run the DOS command : Format C:

But it says it can't, because some other procese is runing the HD.
It says that I can only format it if I disable the volume first (??)

So I run : format c: /x

And it will say : the unit cant be bloked, volume still in use.

Any idea ? I really need to format, Windows is giving me to much errors latly. :x

Try fdisk instead
Also, if your going to reinstall Windows XP, it will ask you if you want to format the drive anyway. So you really don't need to bother formating seperatly.
