Started my PC today and as usual I start Steam in offline mode so my wife can play HL2 and get a message stating it could not enable offline mode as no account details are available…just to state I’ve been running this game in offline mode since the day of release with no problems. I’ve updated the game just once, the first stutter fix and that’s it, I haven’t bothered with any other updates.
So I go online and restart Steam and it updates, I then start HL2 and it updates then the game starts…still online…I disconnect and try to start the game but get an error stating required game files cannot be accessed offline…Reboot and try to start Steam, same thing, it won’t start in offline mode and the game will not run unless I’m connected.
My PC is unchanged, no new hardware/software, no crashes or any problems.
As I’m on Pay-as-you-go 56k dial up I’m not going to stay online just to play.
SO any one got any ideas as to how to rectify this…thanks in advance…
