Ok hear is the deal my family just got a new comp and i wanted to get a good game to play,so asked my friend (he knows about this kind of thing) and he said CS:S so that very day i ordered CS:S online (27.00 new) now before i go on i want to say that for me i NEVER get money and i have been saving for a game.now hear is my problem I DO NOT HAVE HL2 i have been looking on forums and some say i need hl2 and some say i do not . I do not have 40 bucks for hl2 so PLZ HELP ME! and tell me if i should cancel the order

You could get the game of the year edition of Half Life 2 at best buy and get both (HL2 and CS:S), with also the first half life for $39.99

um... i have seen CS:S being sold separately in stores at a lower price.
if you are going to be purchasing online, why not just get it through Valve?
login to your Steam account and click on the Store menu and scroll down til you find CS:Source.

under mimimum requirements theres nothing that says one needs HL2 to play CS:Source...if you want my advice, i'd get the Game of the year edition through Steam.

Yes, the GOTY edition would be best. But I have seen in stores a Counter Strike: Source and Day of Defeat: Source package being sold IIRC.

I highly doubt that you need hl2 for cs source. I would still urge you to cancel your order and rather buy cs source on steampowered.com for 19.95. The only listed requirement is steam, which is free.
