When im near a burning fire my frame rate seems to drop as low as 30fps and it spikes (chop). idk how to fix this problem. i lowered all of my graphics and it doesnt fix anything, in fact lowering my graphics still gives me the same frame rate. i dont have Vsync on either.

my setup:

AMD 3000+ Sempron processor
Geforce 6800 Ultra 256mb AGP
1gig ddr3200 ram
Soundblaster 5.1

What game are you playing?

Have you updated your drivers for your video card?

Are there any patches to the game you're having problems with?

Its on the HL2 mod, the hidden where i experience it most. this one really cool map just seems to be very choppy.

it may be possible that my drivers need to be updated but ive experienced the same thing when i first tried that game out on the tutorial. started out with lots of fire around and it was choppy as hell.

Check your videocard control pannel settings. There may be a fire setting or a different setting that affects the quality of fire.

There may also be a general purpose quality > performance slider that you may need to adjust. Oh and AA may be set to vid card control vs software. Just look around in the control panel and also new drivers always help.

It could be just how the mod was put together. Sometimes the maps aren't created properly and it can cause some framerate issues. Again, that may be the case and it may not, I'm just throwin' that out there.

Maybe you should post a new thread about it in their forums. Perhaps someone there might be able to help you. Here's the link: http://forum.hidden-source.com/
