Not sure wether this is for the general discussion or for art/gfx, but the fact is this: I would like the help/assistance of a good 2D artist to do some 64x64 game tiles for a little adventure game I'm making. I posted a pathfinding demo in the general forum, and the demo can be found here: www.willsmithportfolio.com/Area80/area80.html

Full credits will be included in the game. I don't want any large commitments or anything. If you would like to create a 64x64 tile or two please send them to me in a zipped (rar'ed whatever) non-lossy format such as png or bmp, and more than likely it'll show up in the game. The specific feel / theme of the first segment of the game is a run-down far-future technology environment, still very functional. Any tiles that go along with that theme would be greatly appreciated.

If you would like to do a large part of the gfx work, beyond tiles, such as user interfaces and npcs, that would be really great too - please contact me at [email protected] if you're really keen on it.

So check out the little pathfind demo, take a look at the placeholder gfx for a bit of a basis - any art would be greatly appreciated and warmly received and credited!

Thanks,
FictiousWill

Did you do all of that on your own? Looking pretty good so far in the way of everything being setup and whatnot. Are the players going to be able to use arrow keys also? Also, in response to making tiles... I can make a few if you need some specific ones, but at the moment I don't have time to commit to any full time projects. If you have some requests, post them... and I'll see what I can do :)

Yes, I'm coding the whole thing - its modularly set up, so a variety of different environments and scenarios are possible (I hope). Arrow keys were in an earlier version of the tile engine (I think the dev popups still appear when you press the arrowkeys in that demo). Depending on the style the game emerges as I may or may not include arrow keys, it will probably end up as a user-settable feature.

As for art and tiles, yes I would appreciate any and all that I can get. The first game chapter is set in a wheathered futuristic private research facility. Please take some artistic license and design the look of the tiles as you see fit, I am looking for a rounded, smoothed feel for the facility - but beyond that it's up to you. Other game environments include a mechanized run-down oppressive city (complete with 1984 Orwelesque posters and crap). Random mechanical/scifi/tech tiles in general are great.

I'm not entirely unable to make game tiles, but the ones that came with the demo are about the best I can do. I will of course credit all who send me art. Again, any and all tiles would be greatly appreciated at [email protected].
