HELP halflife 2 crashed and uninstalled

i was playing halflife2 and it randomly crashed halfway through highway 17. it apologized and looked for a solution, but then said no solution found restarting program. it never restarted and when i tried to play again, it was no longer on my games list on steam. it asked me if i wanted to buy it, but i dont want to rebuy it. i have the box, the disc, but i put the cdkey in a safe place where i could always find it, somewhere. im still looking, but no luck.:frown:

Delete the ClientRegistry.blob file in the Steam folder, that will fix it.

Or verify GCF files.

i deleted clientregistry.blob,
nothing changed.
it was installed onto vista by cd key, no disc, and i can't think of any more details to include.

By any chance, a cd key from an asian retailer? They disable those on western accounts, maybe thats the cause.

Common problem.
Restart Steam.
