Help! HL-2 problem

Ok just got done DLing HL-2 off steam, I launch the game, Valve screen then copyright screen then it flashes to a blurryish screen with Loading... in the lower right hand corner and stays on that screen. Doesn't go any farther Anyone know why it is doing this? I wanna play after spending 2days DLing!

Cakemix...if you look through the forum at other posts you will see that there is already a fix for this....all you need to really do is leave your computer connected to the internet and have steam open...if you go to your sys tray and right click the steam icon, than select MONITOR, you SHOULD notice that you have HALF LIFE 2 download in progress...it should tell you how much yoru downloading and EVERYTHING....

If you go to the HL2 properties (right click on the hl2 icon in your steam play games menu) then you wiill probably notice:

Status: Not READY
Amount Acquired: 50-60%

You need 100%.... After the download is done, simply restart steam, or your computer which ever you prefer.

Ah...57%and my DL is fluxing up and down 10-130kbs, is it my connection or is it steam? Takes like an hour to get 1%:\

I noticed that Steam displays their downloads in kilo bits per second, not kilo bytes per second.
1 bit = 1/8 byte
I think they just wanted to use bigger numbers...
And the steam servers are pretty much overloaded, lots of people downloading stuff for hl2 atm
