I have 50,000+mb disk space I download this game it loads, then it closes in an Engine Error and says "You only have 128mb!" with a series of numbers after that sentence.

Please help I really want to play this game.

Is your hard drive partitioned cause if it is you might be installing the game on a "virtual drive' that has only 128 mb

it is talking about your ram not your hard drive silly people

so what are u saying I don t have enough ram to play?

damn half-life requires you to have above 128 ram, damn (kinda makes sense though anything 128 and under has got to be super boggy and unplayable) I'm running 1gb myself

I rebooted my computer and i only got up to 128ram

Hell Windows XP uses 128mb of RAM, upgrade ASAP :O

can u increase ram by deleting things?

It doesen't work like that. You have to buy more.

ram is memery that the computer can put data(such as textures for games) in there For quick access and to exccute programs. it usally comes in chip form which you can fit in your computer yourself or you can get someone else to do it

That's not where or what your RAM is, dude. Your harddrive gains space when you delete stuff, not your RAM.

I don't suppose you know that sort of CPU and motherboard you have, do you? You seriously need to upgrade your RAM to at least something like 512MB (You have 128 MB now).

It shouldn't be too expensive, but first you need to know how new your motherboard is, and what type it is, which should give an indication of how much RAM it can handle.

Also, if you have an old computer, you should look into upgrading your CPU to a faster one, as yours may be too old to handle HL2.

I hate to think what your graphics card could be like.

Note:

CPU = The main chip in your computer.

RAM = Your computer's short term memory.

Motherboard = The big flat bit of electronics that all your computer's bits plug into.

Graphics Card = The bit of electronics that processes and enhances what you see on the monitor.

I seriously doubt i have that little ram where do u go to see ur specs

it's in properties somewhere I think. Either way, go to a computer store and ask them to help install 512mg of RAM. It'll cost bout $75 total probably, but it's worth it (running XP must be a task with 128mg!)

i WANT TO PLAY THISD GAME ON MY UPSTAIRS PC MY DOWNSTAIRS RUNS IT FIN BUT I GUESS IS ANNOYING NOT BEING ABLE TO PLAY IT UP IN MY ROOM SO WHERE DO U GO TO SEE SPECS OF UR PC LIKE RAM ETC....

START > Control Panel > System

Your amount of RAM and CPU speed should be on the front page of the box that pops up.

(And have a little patience, you're not going to get an instantaneous answer.)

No, I'm pretty sure you couldn't. You'd need more than that to run it at a remotely playable rate. Apparently the installer is designed to warn you of this.

Did you check the minimum requirements before you picked the game up?

i'VE BEEN PLAYING STEAM GAMES FOR A LONG TIME AND SIMPLY PURCHASED HL2 THROUGH IT, I WAS NEVER WARNED OF THIS

ok dundun heres how to fix your problem:
1. go to your room
2. unplug all the cables from your computer
3. take it to your back yard
4. mow it down with your lawn mower
5. call your 'computer know it all friend'
6. get him to make you a new computer from scratch that at least follows the recommended requirements for Half-life 2
7. Go to some basic computer courses (cause you need it)

I'm not sure that's called for, dude. No, he doesn't seem to know that much about computers, but destroying his old one won't help. And the old one could still be useful for any retro gaming he might choose to do later.

lol sorry i was just joking (but seriously you'll need to upgrade the pc to play HL2 )

Yup. Or buy a new one, and relegate his upstairs punchcard-o-matic to the attic or garage.
