At about midday today i was using my computer and tried to open the 'My Computer' folder, however all it did was appear to load, but do nothing. It is the same for 'Control Panel' and 'My Documents' as well as others.

I have checked the taskmanager to see if there is anything that shouldn't be running that is, I found 'Javaif32' and 'drwtsn32'.

Now I am aware that 'drwtsn32' is some kind of debugger, and it only appears when I try to open the folders, so that suggests something is wrong.

What's weird is that before yesterday I didn't have any anti-virus software and my computer was fine. But a day after things have stopped working.

Does anyone have any idea what this is?

Thank you.

Use taskmanager and end explorer.exe, then run it again.

Wow that's weird... i had the same exact thing happen to me. Everytime i would click on one of those, drwtsn would run. It never went away to a was forced to format my hardrive and reinstall windows. I have no clue what caused it, even tho my ad-aware did detect some kind of trojan and wouldn't get rid of it. Good luck.

Thats cuz it was probably running in real time. If you would have ctrl alt delete and seen something that didn't look right end tasked it, and ran ad aware again it would have probably deleted it.

I really don't want to format my hard drive and reinstall windows etc., thanks I tried doing what you suggested but didnt work. I can still run things etc., all my other programs work fine, it's just annoying.

Okay..well just go through all the normal things.

Get some antivirus software...like www.grisoft.com.

Scan for both viruses and spyware and hope it all works out.

Yeah I have AVG and (now) the Microsoft AntiSpyware, used them before, didn't work, but still trying. I even used The Cleaner, which got rid of a few Trojans, but didn't help this problem. Thanks anyway.

Hmm...why don't you try a system restore?

Because my system restore is right back at the start unfortunately. I have loads of things I don't want to risk losing.
