The movie I'm looking for is very similar to the movie Equilibrium, everything except the gun martial arts, over the top action scenes and the "equilibrium" drug.
However everything else is remarkably similar.
The main character is a "fireman", meaning part of a team that finds and burns books, art, etc. When a woman sacrifices herself and
is burned with her entire house, he starts to question what he is doing, and starts to hide some books in his home, and read them.
His wife eventually figures it out. He becomes a fugitive, and to make a long story short, he eventually winds up with a sort of passive resistance movement living in the woods.
The movie is old, judging by the look of it I would guess it was made in the 60s.
I saw this movie a month ago, but only caught the second half of it and never found out the name.
