I am really exited to finally play the HL2 game, I bought the special edition and the full stategy guide but i havent opened it yet, im waiting for some help from you guys. I need to know if HL2 would run without any problems on my computer. I has 638 MB of RAM and an ATI RADEON 9200 256MB video card and an Intel Celeron 2.5 GHZ proccesor. Or in my laptop, it has a crappy video card of 64MB, 512 MB RAM and Pentium 4 2.5 GHZ processor.

Thanks in advance!

It will run, but not on highest graphics by any chance. 9200 is a very poor card, you should really try something more. Depending on the GPU of your laptop, I would probably think that it will perform just as well. You have quite alot of ram so texture-related things can be pumped up a little.

PS - too late? LOL :hmph:

Yea that's true, why do people ask 'O is it going to be ok' like we are fortune tellers. I mean im glad to help out people, but it seems more of an opportunity to show off about whatever can be shown off... in this case i cant spot it lol

Mes gonna ask you all the moment i get home what FPS im gonna get on my game that I just bought, that i dedided not to install instead, EVERY TIME :D :D :D

The 9200 would should run it fine at full setting at 800x600 with no to little lag. I have a 9200se (shudder) and it does medium at 800x600 just fine. I would be worried about the celeron processor though. They tend to be really poor performers.

The first impression is the one that counts, but thanks.

or just put it in your damn comp and try it
In case you didn’t read well, I was asking anyone if someone could help me, because I (in my opinion) spend a lot of money on this game and it's stuff and I wasn't sure if it would be worth to open the package of the game and try to play it on the computers and take the risk of the game not wanting to run on those computers, but thanks a lot anyways, DrDevin.

And thank you too `unreal, because you were the first one to make a friendly and helpful post, but just for the record, the last thing I think of you is that you are a fortune teller, and you cant spot what I’m "showing off", because I wasn’t.

What I did was just list my specifications, because I imagined you couldn’t guess if the game would run on my computer if I it wasn’t for the specifications I detailed, and I did, so it could be faster and easier so I could get the help efficiently and effortlessly, cuz at the end, I figured your not a fortune teller. And just for emphasis, I’m not the one that is "showing off", not like you with your signature, and if you don’t know what I mean, take a look at yours, and at drfreeman's.

It’s actually sad that this is my first time I visit this page and the first time i post something in this forum, and I get pointed at and almost something close to humiliated. But again, thanks anyways, and I hope I enjoy the game and the rest of this webpage and I also hope in the future when I post something more, the people would try to treat me and other ones with a little more respect, or at least be more reserved and educated.

And the answer to the question on your signature, `unreal, is a little ovious...I couln't care less. ;)

Whoa, calm down there. No one humiliated you or insulted you. It's just that tons of people ask this exact same question on here when no one can really give an accurate answer. The only way to know is to look at the minimum and recommended specs on the box and then just try it. So although drfreeman may have been a bit blunt, he actually gave you good advice.

Also, this thread was created for this exact question: http://www.halflife2.net/forums/showthread.php?t=1337

There's just no need to overreact so much and try to insult people in return.

I think that HL2 should run on your desktop just fine, it's just a matter of what settings you can have your game set to, such as resolution, the reiterate what drdevin said it should work fine at any settings with 800x60 0 resolution. I also think that opening your game and playing it will be well worth its price because the game in itself is well worth the money, you don't always nessesaraly need the highest settings for the "fun" to be in the game, and agian my bet is that more people are going to answer your question at the thread Neutrino pointed out. Good luck and i hope I was of some help.

first of all why wouldnt you ask this question before you bought the game? anyways any setting will be great...hell i set my game to 640x400 (or whatever it is) and turned down everything and it was still pretty decent looking to todays standards. This game is not meant just for the "eye-candy" its all about the gameplay. Anyone game make a game with good graphics but have poor gameplay. physics, etc. Its all about how you interpret the game to be.

I did overreacted and I am very sorry, I wish this woulnt had ever happened and thank you very very much your your help on my question about the game and the hardware. Now I feel better. Thanks again.

PD-I did noticed that i posted the same questiong again but the thing is that i had a problem with my browser and the window shut down. Again, sorry.
