ok my 6800gt pci-e is coming today and i wanna know how to install it step by step...

i know the removing the cover part.. but what should i do first? uninstall my old vcard? and pull it?

hmmm please help me guys...

Uninstall the drivers for your old card, remove it from the motherboard (you'll probably have to unfix the bracket that secures the card in place), attach the new card, refix the bracket, install new drivers.

The power should be off and unplugged during the removing/attaching of the cards, by the way.

im really scared and im thinking about bringing it to an expert.. i read an article that it has those static things....

About the static... just make sure you earth yourself (get rid of all the static electricity from your body). To do this... just touch a radiator. If not, the computers chassis will do.

It's not that hard to install a graphics card. All you do, is take out the old one and pop the new one in.

ok guys thank you.. il let u guys know later if i installed it.. or if not.. and you may close this thread :)

Your motherboard has a PCI-E slot, right? Just checking :p

I don't unplug, just have the power turned off, I make sure that my computers earthed somehow, thats why I leave the plug in (it has an earth pin).

Like hungryduck says, its not all too hard

ok guys i installed it and running.. here's what i wanna say
i have a friend WHO HAS EXACTLY THE SAME COMPUTER SPEC SAME EVERYTHING
(p4 3.0GHZ) (512MB 2x 256mb 400mhz) (PNY 6800GT) same same!

but from the looks of it.. his video processor is faster and looks nicer on games....

does it have like catylist program like ATi have?

i heard him say things about detonators.. what the hell is that?.. help!

do i need to install additional software?

you might need to download the latest drivers and also chnage the options for your vid card. It should have a control center.

Up the anti aliasking and turn it to high quality. That changes how it looks a lot. Also remember the monitor limits how good the graphics looks so his monitor may be better than yours.

well the thing is its running choppier than his computer... he has smooth game... i got smooth game too when there are no players around.. but when u go to a populated area.. it gets lil bit choppy (LIL BIT)

Could be driver difference. Could be hard drive difference...could be brand of hardware..all kinds of minor things can cause that difference really. Might be your comp is full of junk and runs a little slow.

Well, he was on the right line with 'detonators'. You need the latest forceware from nVidia, detonators are the old name for their drivers. Get the latest forceware (81.95) from here.

I'm guessing you already installed drivers from the disk provided. They're usually pretty out of date, so removing them and updating to the latest is generally a good idea, and will usually give performance benefits.

ok i saw some improvement installing that, thanks!

and i got question.. whats bilinear and trilinear... explain?
