Right so I have a computer with a SATA HDD and a PN5-E SLI motherboard. I want to put a second HDD so I can run more than 1 OS without having to risk formatting my current HDD accidently.

My problem is the old HDD uses UATA, and I have no idea if my motherboard supports it. SISandra came up with nothing I could use, same google search.

Anyone throw any light on this? I've never installed a second HDD before.

Look for the connector on your motherboard shown in the middle of this picture.

I'm sure UATA is the same as ATA so you should be able to connect it up with no problems.

I can't see the picture xD *cries*
What about cables? I have a UATA cable but there is a tiny break in the cable, I don't know if that messes it up or if it's supposed to be there xD
Also, What's all this business about being a master / slave drive? the back of the HDD is Cable Select, so does that mean the way I put the cable in affects if the new drive is set as master or slave?

Edit: Also, is there any problems with having seperate OS's on seperate HDD's? I've heard some stuff about it messing the computer up badly.

What do you mean by a tiny break in the cable?

I don't know about the master and slave thing but considering that you are only going to have 1 UATA drive I'd probably set to master. If that doesn't work simply set it to slave and see what happens.

You shouldn't have a problem installing OS's on seperate drives but I suppose that depends what other OS you are installing. :P

Both the HDDS's have OS's on. My current one has Vista, the not yet installed one has Xp.
