 Can someone out there tell me the secret to logging on to Steam??? I can't seem to get past the message "cannot contact the steam network, please try later" Is there something I can do to change my port status? :flame: :sniper: I've asked many many times for help from the steam support...but I get none! :flame: It has been months I've been trying...could someone with a little knowledge help?

Why did you leave it so long to get help? :s

Did it update properly?

are you using Winxp sp2? or behind any firewalls?

have you tried redownloading the steam.exe, or the steam+CS cache (most problems are solved with getting the CS-steam cache pack.. well it did back in the beginning)
and then retrying?

have you tried deleting your clientregistry.blob? and then trying to login?

have you checked the network status of your area and is steam currently down?

hey man wassup,
can u tell me how u fixed ur problem because i have the same problem and im dying to play cs...so please help ASAP...thanx alot man...take care...

oh yah,can u tell meeh how to turn off the firewall or watever you did...so thanx alot man...

If you mean the XP firewall:

Enter the control panel
open network connections
right click on the internet connection you're using
select properties
select advanced
turn of the firewall.

If you have norton internet security installed:
allow steam.exe, hl.exe etc to connect to the internet manually OR shut down the firewall when you're going to play. (shutting it down helps both your fps and ms in-game)
