I just bought the full 5-CDs of Half-Life at some EB-Games Store. And after the installation of the CDs I got this error message:

Error Main Exception (steam.exe): Can't find steam.dll

I don't see any steam.dll in any of my CDs...I new in this game. The computer I'm trying to install the game in doesn't have any active connection to the internet at all. Is that a problem if I want to play the game on Single Player Mode?

Any help. Thx

An internet connection is required for most of the games that use Steam. Once you get it setup then you can run it in Offline mode. Also if you don't want it to automaticly patch your games then right click on the game and find the option. If Steam is not installing from the CD you can download it. giant posted the link above.

It's so wonderful you can't play Hl2 without an internet connection. If only I knew who came up with that idea, he'd be dead.

Most people I know would rather connect to the net once and the set it in offline mode than deal with CD protections. :X

Yes, I imagine a child trying to slap me to death would make me laugh myself to death as well.

Read the system requirements. Don't like em? then gtfo.
