Help Mapping..

I am brand new to mapping. Today my friends and I were drawing maps in school. They were layed out very well and I really wanted to create them. They are all for CSS. They are very unique concept, too. I have not noticed any other map on CS or CSS that has the same layout. Can you tell me what I will need to create the maps? Please help, as I would like to do this in my sparetime.

All you need is to go to steam, play games then source sdk then select in the box at the bottom "counter strike source" then double click hammer.
There are tutorials EVERYWHERE on how to make maps, check the hammer documentation for some info on hammer, how to use it and "making your first cs s room" type things.

If it's a halfway complex map at all, don't expect to pop it out in a week or anything. It takes some dedication to learn the basics, and practice to get good at it.

If you know f*ck-all about mapping, or hammer, you could check out IchI's video tutorials stickied at the top of this section. I watched them a few weks ago, gave me a good start seeing someone actually using the hammer editor. Not CS-centered but they are fairly interesting to watch IMO.
