Big Edit - Scrap all that - tell me how this looks so far. Obviously it's not the best PC in the world but to me it looks pretty decent. This PC isn't for me so tell if anyone spots any two things that wouldn't work, let me know :p

CPU - AMD Athlon 64 3000
CPU Heatsink/fan - Thermaltake Silent Boost K8 AMD64

RAM - Corsair Value Select 512MB PC3200 RAM x 2
Video Card - Gigabyte GF 6600GT 128MB AGP
DVD-RW Drive - NEC 3520 16x16 DVDRW Silver
Mouse + Keyboard - Microsoft Wireless Desktop Optical

Total - £512.00 inc. VAT

Hey are you buying this off of newegg or some european site, because if you pay 2 more US dollars you can get the 6800 Vanilla Leadtek. Wih 12 pipelines and 256bit memory interface. Also you might want to double check the PSU but looks good to me

of course its a european site u can tell by how he prices it and the psu is enough for what u have unless u go and get a 6800 like nofx said then u might need a better PSU

Looks good as long as both the Asus A8V and A64 3000+ are the same Socket.
Is the harddrive a SATA or PATA (IDE cable)?

Yeh, the motherboard and processor are the same socket :)

The harddrive is a PATA. If that doesn't cause any problems then looks like I'll get it, thanks for the help guys ;)

Why do you want the thermaltake heat sink? Is it for over clocking? Because if it is then I wouldn't recommend the Athlon 64 3000, unless you get a winchester core.

Nah I don't think anyone will be overclocking it :p, but I have no idea so I just bought any old heat sink, it mentioned Athlon 64 somewhere so I thought it would be OK.

Best to go with a 16 pipe card.

Well if you're will to dish the extra cash :p Otherwise, I haven't got the money.

Save the money you are going to spend on that heat sink and put it towards a x800 XL

I'd seriously consider getting a PCI express board and card, it's more futureproof.

but that's just me
