My Halflife 2 was working fine then I got a bigger Acer LCD and now it loads only on the left 2/3rd of screen, I don't know about this stuff - can someone tell me how to reset so the game loads centered on my screen??

if its connected by VGA then try pressing the auto scale button.

Ummm, where's the auto scale button? It's an Nvidia card, or GForce card, nvidia control panel, Win XP
million thanx for quick response

is the game opening in windowed mode? try going to options and making it open in windowed mode then changing it back to fullscreen.

no, it's opening out of windows, full screen - but shifted to the side. I have resolution at 1600x1200 - does that have anything to do with it?

problem is I can't get to 'options' screen in half-life, it's off the screen

ok, found the 'autoscale' button. 'Twas on my monitor. (blush)
Thanks to all.

i think i have a solution
right click on the game in the my games menu, go to properties, then click on set launch options then type in -w 1600 (or whatever your new screen is now)its the first measurment out of #x#(eg 800x600)

obviously you don't bother reading other peoples posts and go straight to posting your response...n00b

pretty sure that's breaking one of the unspoken rules of forums

was answered in the first post :P

But why bother with the simplest solutions when there are thousands of other more complex ways to try not fixing it?

It's not so bad when you've got a post count of six.

Cute little newbies :3

Yep, gotta love 'em!!! Sometimes anyway. But not when they start bumping year-old threads. *coughalyxvancecough*

This site is great at being helpful.

here's my solution.

You need to reformat every single registry value beginning with a vowel to 0x000006a. Here's how to do that. Next, you'll need to purchase a Geforce FX9600, install it in a new motherboard, format your computer, and burn the card. Next, clean your monitor with this, reinstall XP, Steam, and Half Life 1, then reformat again and you'll be fine.
