Help me install!

I bought Portal and I put the disk into my hardrive, but the computer cannot read the disk and nothing pops up! Please help I don't wantto waste my money! :frown:

Hard drive? You can't put the disk in the hard drive

You have a DVD drive? Does it work properly with all other DVD games you own / films? Does the Orange Box / Portal DVD look OK underneath? Any scratches or marks? Is it a legal version or copied?

Try going to 'My Computer' and double clicking on your D: drive, does that start the installation? Alternatively, right click > explore. Search for an autorun / installer package.

You need Steam to run it. Do you have Steam?

Heads up man - if this is the first time you've run Steam, you're in for a number of updates, during which you'll need to demonstrate more patience than most people seem accustomed to. It'll take care of them automatically, but it will take time.

Do you have a DVD reader? Or do you have CD reader?
