EDIT: Wait, what the hell. That site has a freaking "Help SS-Waffen Veterans" :|. I mean, sure most of them probably didn't believe in the Nazi cause, but...
 
like it or not alot of SS Vets where fighting Soldiers not all of them where Camp Guards,they faught and died their country,even thoe the cause sucked.In the US Vets get help,in germany most Wehrmacht or Waffen SS Vets are ignored and thrown in to old people homes.

Waffen SS commited warcrimes in WWII.

War crimes and atrocities

Many formations within the Waffen-SS were proven to have committed war crimes, most notoriously at Oradour-sur-Glane, Marzabotto, against Canadian soldiers in the Battle of Normandy and in the Malmedy massacre.

Perhaps the most infamous of all SS formations were the Dirlewanger and Kaminski Brigades (later to become the 36.Waffen-Grenadier-Division der SS and 29.Waffen-Grenadier-Division der SS (russische Nr.1) respectively. These formations, composed mostly of ex-Einsatzgruppen, released criminals and Russian Prisoners of War and commanded by the fanatical Nazis Oskar Dirlewanger and Bronislaw Kaminski, were engaged in numerous atrocities throughout their existence. After their actions in putting down the Warsaw Uprising, Heer complaints resulted in these units being dissolved and several members (including Kaminski) being tried and executed for their role in several incidents.

Similarly, the Waffen-Sturm-Brigade RONA has a "combat" record riddled with atrocities as well as abysmal conduct when faced with front line service.

While divisions like the Nordland and Nord have virtually spotless records, most Waffen-SS divisions were involved in at least some questionable actions. The debate over the culpability of the organisation is the center of much so-called 'revisionist' thinking (see Holocaust denial and Historical revisionism).

On one end of the debate, in addition to documented atrocities, certain Waffen-SS units did assist in rounding up Eastern European Jewry for deportation, SS-Division Totenkopf personnel convalesced at concentration camps by serving routine guard duties, and utilised Scorched-earth tactics during anti-partisan operations.

On the other end, some assert that with over 900,000 men serving in its ranks from 15 nationalities, the Waffen-SS was a pan-European military formation embedded with a socio-political ideology, similar in composition to the 19th-century Napoleonic forces or even modern-day NATO military organization.

Regardless of the record of individual combat units within the Waffen-SS, the entire organisation was declared a criminal organization by the International Military Tribunal during the Nuremberg Trials, except conscripts, who were exempted from that judgment due to being forcibly mobilized. The actions of Himmler and the Nazi hierarchy in attaching the SS combat divisions to the same overall command of as the Allgemeine SS, Concentration Camps and Einsatzgruppen meant that such a decision was inevitable.

Refresh my memory again: SS forces were volunteers and the Wehrmacht was for conscripts, right?
 
bah, wikepdeia links are worthless,so according to your logic Raz, US Vets shouldnt be helped today as well.everyone comitted war crimes in WWII the war itself was a crime, dont make look thrue the internet to find links of russian solduer raping women or US soldiers killing POW's.



btw, warcrimes are being commited as we speak :O
it all comes down to this,SS vets are old alot of them live off wellfare etc,so they need vet aid. gimme a break, Do you want Germany to put all Wehrmacht Vets and SS vets in to a dark room? jeez

Um no, not at all- you're completely wrong in fact.

During troop deployments, wives, children, and even the men themselves might say "Yeah, I deploy Friday evening on the USS ________. We're heading over to reinforce our forces fighting in Northern France."

From this info if a German overheard, they'd know just about exactly how many reinforcements were coming, from which port, on what ship, and the destination, and could sink/kill entire divisions of infantry with a U-Boat rather than having to fight them.

It was about not talking about your deployment, not about politics.
 
yes the wehrmacht was mostly consisted of draftees,and the Waffen SS was full of volunteers.that doesnt change the fact these 74+ year men old dont deserve vet aid.

They don't deserve vet aid based off of propaganda posters. Find another way to support them.

America (And the general Allies back then) were paranoid of nazi spies in their country, they didn't want people talking about the war incase the spies get any secrets.
