can sumbody help me??

hahaha tried to upload obviously haha not gonna happen mate

try using www.imageshack.us to upload your photo.

By the way, is anybody gonna give this guy help, or just pay him out about his lack of skill on a PC? :cheese:

LOL dude thats so weird haha sorry man try reinstalling the game, rolling back or updating drivers? thats all i can think of,

It's a texture problem, basically you are either missing the textures or something is corrupt.

Why can't you validate?

ppl say i can type something at the console to solve this problem..any clue?

mat_reloadalltextures may work, but I very much doubt it. You should validate you gcf files.

Yah. The purple-and-black checkerboard is what the engine shows when it can't find a texture. Verify game cache; failing that, delete local files, redownload, reinstall.

Last time this pink checkerboard thingy came up it was a pirate copy wasn't it?

Always amusing when people seek tech-support for something they stole. I mean, after-sales support is kind of not something you should expect if no-one sold it to you :P

only games that are made by valve, have those symptoms of being pirated though

BURN THE WITCH!

This would've been a perfectly legitimate question if not for the "i cant validate" thing...

Shasta, take it easy...there really is no need for that attitude either, it doesn't help.

Thread starter - you require the game to be validated, I suspect you don't know how to do so. Go to your games list, right click HL2 then go to properties, check across the tabs & look for a 'validate integrity of game cache' button. Let Steam fix your game files and your problem should go away. Please do this before reposting, and look very hard to do this action. Steam has this feature inbuilt into it, it's impossible you don't have the feature. If you want to fix it, help yourself and do it!

Just in case he still doesn't get it...

IN STEAM, RIGHT CLICK HL2 EPISODE ONE, CLICK PROPERTIES, CLICK ON 'LOCAL FILES' TAB, CLICK 'VERIFY INTEGRITY OF GAME CACHE'.

If you still get the problem, I dunno, try reinstalling the game. Also make sure your video card drivers are up to date.

Someone sig this asap.

To verify your game files, follow these steps:

Left-click on the Steam tray icon.
Select "Games".
Click on the "My Games" tab.
Right-click "Half-Life 2: Episode One".
Select "Properties".
Click on the "Local Files" tab.
Click on the "Verify integrity of game cache..." button.
Wait for it to complete.
Click "OK".
Click "Close".

If you are unable to verify your game cache, you've got an illegal version and we can't help you.
