ok so i have 2 stix of 512mb corsair xms pc3200 400mhz
and a shitty kingston value ram 333MHz DDR (PC2700)
my question is .. is it better if i have all three running on my comp, or just the pair of corsairs??

Just the two corsairs.

Putting in the Kingston RAM will slow all of your sticks to 333MHz.

Having more than 2 of the same sticks will reduce system performance if you are not using it, so it is always a good idea to have only 2 sticks.

That all depends if his Motherboard supports Dual Channel. If it doesn't, then by all means use all three sticks. If it does support it, toss that Kingston stick out of here.

Did you read what he said at all? Its not a good idea to run 2 different speeds of ram.

Just run the 2 sticks of Corsair. It would be best.
Otherwise:
1. Memory will default to 333MHz because of the Kingston memory
2. Memory will not run in Dual Channel Memory configuration.
3. Memory will slow down because you have more than 4 banks of memory.
