Help me with WoW, PLEASE!

Okay, so I installed WoW yesterday (got the 10 days trial from a friend) and played a little and found it cool.
Now, I wanted to play this morning but couldn't, I just can't get the list of realms to connect to (even though it worked yesterday and my internet works, as my post shows). So I tried to hit up the WoW forums to ask what was going on, only to be told "There is no available character." everytime I tried to post, wich doesn't make sense to me.

So please, help me either connect to the forum or tell me what is wrong with my WoW.

(I thought that maybe the realms were down for maintenance, but I can't be sure without logging in on the forum and I'm a newbie at this game).

Generally speaking there is one day of the week, every week, where wow basically shuts down first thing until about lunchtime. That includes all the servers, and even the main website for some reason just dies. Everything then comes back up and its all fine again. Its just maintenance. I seem to recall it being on wednesdays but i stopped playing in sep last year so things may have changed.

Try again this evening, but dont hold your breath as everyone is trying to do the same thing on the same day, so the servers used to choke and need restarting, get overpopulated etc.

Man im glad i dont play anymore...

Also, I just found the link on the main page and, yes, all realms are down. But what about the forums, why can't I post?

No, I believe that's incorrect; it would be a networking nightmare.

It's just (as seen in the quote above yours within my post) overload on the forum servers from more traffic than usual due to all of the WoW players not being able to play WoW at the moment, logging on to the forums. Occasionally the forums are not down on Tuesday, other times they're completely down, while most of the time they're just extremely, unbearably slow.
