Try Internet radio stations. When I jones for new music, I'll browse different bitcasts, and am usually presently surprised. Russian techno, German pop, British house, Argentine mambo are some of my more pleasant discoveries.
Download iTunes... they have free Internet Radio. I'm tuned into some bass-techno station. Wow, this is some good stuff. I'm sitting here dancing in my chair.
http://liveplasma.com/ - this was posted a while back - draws a map to show other bands and musicians you may like depending on what you listen to at the moment...worth a shot...
Everything said by Dlamari to Q_onfused i already listen to, i need something new. THe internet radio sounds like a perfect idea, thanks.
I'll also give this liveplasma shenanigan a try... i mean, why not?
Thanks for the helpful tips
EDIT - Hey thanks for the liveplasma thing... it didnt give me new music, but reintroduced me to things I haven't listened to in a long time like cream and neil young and my thirst for something to listen to has been quenched
The Who, Deep Purple, ELO, The Kinks, Bowie, Peter Green (just personal favs)
More Modern- Joy Division, Mission of Burma, Sonic Youth, My Bloody Valentine- ok heading off on a tangent here but who knows? Its all great music.
Alt Rock country you'd probably like- Wilco, Son Volt. etc
