HELP - My game is lagging but i always have very low ping ..

My CSS game is lagging quite badly on maps other than aim_ maps. My ping is usually less than twenty and the highest it has been is 45. My Half- Life 2 works perfectly apart from very few areas where it lags slightly. So im not sure what is wrong. I have set all video settings to low and using resolution 640*480. I have a Dell Computer, Pentium 4 Processor 3.0 GHZ, 512 Ram and a Intel(R) 82915G/GV/910L Express Chipset Family intergrated graphics card. I have updated its driver to the latest. I have tried all sorts of rates but to no avail ... so can anyone please provide me with some sort of help ? I would be very grateful for any help at all,

btw - i bought this game in China (dont worry, not a pirate version) however it is a chinese version with the English language. I updated it thru Steam in the UK and play in the UK with UK servers. I doubt this but could it be because i bought the game in China ? Once again, help would be very greatly appreciated, thnx

No, the China thing wouldn't be the problem. Try different servers, like a lot of different servers. Some servers just are choppy... so... yea...

i would think it was the intigrated card that is causing the lag and i can tell that u have a pci express slot so buying a video card will solve the problem, but thats only if u have the money to buy one

thanks for replies ... but errr ... no i have tried many different servers .. .LOADS ... but all ones with normal maps lag ... and about the graphics card ... i dont think so cuz it runs basically all other games which are new or relatively new perfectly (doom 3, hl2, bf2). So any more advice ?

Integrated won't run any of those games well. So, yea, get a REAL videocard.

Firstly and most importantly get a new videocard, like a 6600gt or a x800 pro or so. Secondly, if u have ekstra money, get more RAM but u already have 512 and thats allright.

so really .. theres nothing i can do as it stands ? Apart from buy a new video card ? Just im pretty sure CSS has much less requirements than some of those games i listed ... Also just a thought .. which graphics card shud i buy ? i dont want to spend TOO much on it ...

you couls set everything to a absolute minimum.. but then again, you could just play cs 1.6

:bounce: they r wrong or lying. it's nothing 2 do with ur gfx card. it's to do with 1 of the many patches ur forced 2 d/l (update) it never used to be like this but the "plague" has spread. i have an xp2100+ (o/c'd to 2g's) 512 ddr 400 ram & a 9800 pro. i regularly get the same problem & i c my loadout again each time :x .my pc has kindly added the "bonus feature" of every time a map loads my game minimises & i get between 1-9 copy's of the server's own website & after closing the game can be tempermental to maximising again. GRRR! sometimes it's so bad i just giveup & play bf2. this is criminal as it used to consistently be a rock solid stable game:cheers:

er... ok , so ur saying its not my graphics card problem ? i have a friend hu lives very close to me, has a worse computer but has a graphics card and he runs CSS no problem .... im confused !!! i dont know hu to believe !!!

u dont even have the problem that rich satyr we have all told u its the intigrated gfx card they really arent meant for todays gaming basically its just a video controller
