Help my laptop has become a piece of shit.

Long story short, had laptop a while seemed to run fine.
Now all of a sudden Im getting shit-ass performance from it for example in Left 4 Dead or Day of Defeat : Source I'm getting like 10-15 fps on lowest possible settings when normally Id get about 30-40 on medium settings.

It never used to do this, what could cause this? How can it be fixed? I've checked to make sure there's no dodgy software running in the background.

This is taking the piss now I can't even listen to music without it skipping every so often.

Overheating or it's on a powersaver profile or something. Make sure it's plugged in.

How sure are you that "there's no dodgy software running"? Do a thorough sweep with something like Kaspersky's online scan in order to eliminate the possibility.

Otherwise, I could imagine it being a powersaving feature malfunctioning.

Yea the exhaust fan for the GFX and such was blocked with dust!
